There is no universally cheapest way to keep a YouTube stream running 24/7 in India. A home server can have the lowest additional cost if you already own a suitable PC and it is on anyway; otherwise, include its electricity and hardware costs. A VPS moves the computer offsite but leaves setup and recovery to you. A managed loop service charges a recurring fee for provider-operated streaming. Compare the full monthly cost and the work each option leaves you—not a free encoder against a server price.
What each option costs—and who keeps it running
| Option | Main recurring cash cost | Who operates it | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home PC with OBS | Electricity, any incremental network charges, and possibly hardware wear | You | Can be inexpensive if you already own a suitable PC that is on for other reasons. It depends on home power, internet, and the machine staying available. |
| Self-managed VPS with FFmpeg | Server rental and any applicable transfer or storage charges | You | Compute runs offsite, but you install and maintain the setup, protect the stream key, monitor it, and handle restart and recovery. |
| Managed looping service | Subscription, plus any applicable storage, channel, or tax charges under the selected plan | The service provider operates its cloud encoder and stated recovery workflow | Less server administration and no home PC left running, in exchange for recurring fees and provider limits or dependency. |
The options also differ in supported resolution and bitrate, channel and storage limits, billing terms, tax treatment, and control over the setup. Check those details for the actual configuration and plan you would use. A service’s description of automatic recovery is a feature claim, not proof of uninterrupted operation.
Estimate a home server’s monthly electricity cost
Measure the complete computer at the wall under the intended streaming workload if possible. A plug-in electricity usage meter (watt meter) can provide that reading. Do not use the power supply’s nameplate rating as a substitute for actual draw.
Use these formulas, with your measured average draw and applicable marginal tariff:

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
monthly kWh = average measured watts ÷ 1,000 × hours per day × daysmonthly electricity cost = monthly kWh × applicable marginal ₹/kWh
Illustrative example—not an India-wide tariff or measured result
A StreamNeo-published 2026 example assumes a desktop averaging 120–200 W and electricity at ₹7–₹8/kWh. On those assumptions, the PC alone works out to roughly ₹20–₹38 per day, or ₹605–₹1,152 over 30 days. These are scenario calculations, not a survey of Indian tariffs or a measurement of your computer. Your bill and real wall draw may differ; peripherals, UPS losses, or a higher tariff can raise the practical cost. Replace both assumptions with your own figures. StreamNeo’s India-focused comparison describes the example.
Existing PC versus buying hardware for the stream
If you already own the PC and leave it on anyway, the relevant additional cost may be mainly marginal electricity and any operational expense caused by streaming. If you are buying a machine solely for the stream, count that upfront purchase separately. If you convert it to a monthly figure, state the amortization period rather than presenting the hardware as free. Electricity is not the only consideration: the home machine and connection must remain available, and you are responsible for responding when they do not.

Include network costs only when they are incremental
Do not add a generic internet bill to the streaming cost if you would pay it regardless. Include a cost if the stream changes a capped plan, incurs an overage, or otherwise requires a more expensive connection. If your plan has data limits, check the terms against your intended continuous stream before choosing a home setup.
What a VPS changes—and what it does not
A VPS puts the encoder on a rented server rather than your home computer. Its monthly total depends on the specific provider and configuration; the available figures do not establish one universal VPS price for a 24/7 YouTube stream. Get a current quote for the server location, CPU and RAM, storage, transfer or egress allowance, operating system, and any applicable license. Confirm how billing treats continuous use.

Remote compute does not make the setup self-managing. With a self-managed VPS, you remain responsible for installing and configuring FFmpeg, keeping the stream key secure, monitoring the process, and arranging restart and recovery behavior. Compare that time and responsibility with a managed service’s stated scope, not just its monthly fee. StreamNeo’s cost comparison discusses the trade-offs without establishing a configuration-specific VPS total.
Compare managed services on equivalent terms
Published prices can help shortlist services, but they are not automatically like-for-like: channel count, resolution or output limits, storage, billing period, source handling, recovery features, and tax treatment may differ. The following are vendor-published examples recorded as accessed in 2026; verify current availability and terms directly before deciding.

| StreamNeo | Monthly plan listed at ₹999 in its 2026 India-oriented article, described there as about ₹33.30 per day when divided over 30 days | Check the current plan page, tax treatment, billing conditions, and limits. The price and service description are provider-published, not an independent uptime assessment. |
| YtLive Stream | Example India monthly plans: ₹499 Starter and ₹999 Pro | The plans have different channel counts, storage, output limits, and features. Verify current plan availability and compare the limits you need. |
| StreamSetu | ₹649 monthly for one channel plus 10 GB storage, with 18% GST stated separately | Include GST in the total and confirm the current plan terms. Its cloud operation and reconnect description are vendor claims, not independent reliability findings. |
These figures are volatile and are not independent tests. A lower headline price does not establish a cheaper equivalent service. Compare the total for your needed number of channels, quality, storage, billing term, and tax-inclusive price.

- Choose a home PC if you already have suitable hardware, its measured electricity cost is acceptable, your home connection and power are dependable enough for your use, and you are willing to maintain it.
- Consider a VPS if you want the encoder offsite and need more control, and you are comfortable handling configuration, key security, monitoring, and recovery. Get the configuration-specific quote before treating it as the lower-cost option.
- Consider managed looping if you would rather pay a recurring fee than maintain a home machine or server. Check the provider’s channel, quality, storage, recovery, tax, and billing terms against your needs.
These options concern prerecorded video looping. They are not interchangeable with a camera-based live production workflow or a complex real-time production setup. Choose an approach that supports the source and production workflow you actually need.

YouTube eligibility applies to every setup
The encoder’s location does not change YouTube’s account requirements. YouTube Help says live streaming requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days, and lists an encoder as a supported streaming method. Check the current YouTube Help guidance on getting started with live streaming before configuring either a home or cloud stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
For prerecorded YouTube streams, StreamNeo runs the loop from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos; it is not a camera-based live production service. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. The same product is on every plan; only the billing length changes.
- Nothing has to stay on at home.
