No—not if your PC is running the encoder that sends the video to YouTube. When that computer sleeps, its encoder cannot keep sending the stream. To leave your PC off, move the prerecorded video stream to a cloud service or another independently powered setup. YouTube itself identifies cloud-based 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos as an option.
Why a sleeping PC stops a computer-originated stream
In an encoder-based YouTube broadcast, software or hardware encodes the video and sends it to YouTube using a stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s setup instructions have you start the encoder to go live and stop it when ending the broadcast. If the encoder is running on your PC, putting that PC to sleep stops the computer-originated feed; the stream cannot continue from that sleeping machine. That is different from a viewer pausing or rewinding a broadcast. DVR controls and an archived recording do not keep the encoder sending video. YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours, while its encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Ways to keep a prerecorded nature stream running
Keep the PC awake
If your video loop and encoder are on your current computer, keep it awake and connected to the internet for as long as you want the stream to run. This is the simplest arrangement, but it depends on that PC, its power, the encoder, and the internet connection continuing to work. A sleep setting, restart, software crash, or network interruption can end the feed.

Move the prerecorded video to a cloud service
If your goal is to turn off your PC, a hosted service can play and send the prerecorded video independently. YouTube’s encoder documentation names Gyre as an example of a cloud-based service for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. That mention does not establish the provider’s current platform support, pricing, uptime, file limits, support terms, or rights requirements; check those details directly before choosing a service. Use a standalone hardware encoder only with an independent source
YouTube supports hardware encoders, but a separate encoder is not a way to keep reading a video that exists only on a sleeping PC. The video source must remain accessible to the encoder independently, and the encoder itself still needs power and a network connection. YouTube’s support for hardware encoders does not mean that they can draw video from an unavailable sleeping computer.

Settings and checks that affect reliability
Make sure your channel can go live
YouTube’s general requirements say a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; its guide also says users must be at least 16. Platform rules can change, so check YouTube’s current live-streaming guide before setting up.

Choose encoder settings your connection can sustain
YouTube’s recommended bitrate and codec settings vary with resolution and frame rate. Choose settings from YouTube’s encoder settings recommendations that your upload connection can sustain, then test the actual stream. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the total stream bitrate. Shared connections can leave less bandwidth available, and network disruptions can break a stream. Test and monitor rather than assuming it will be uninterrupted
Start with a test, check the preview before going live, and monitor stream health and audio/video quality. A continuous broadcast is not guaranteed to be uninterrupted just because the video loops. Keep the stream key private: it is the credential that lets an encoder send to your channel. YouTube’s live streaming tips cover testing and stream checks.

Copyright, reused content, and ambience footage
A long runtime or nature theme does not itself establish that you have permission to stream the footage or its audio. Use material you created or have rights to broadcast, and check the applicable licenses for both picture and sound. YouTube’s live-stream eligibility and encoder guidance do not guarantee that a particular video is cleared for streaming or monetization; copyright and channel policies still apply. Do not assume that looping, changing the title, or leaving a broadcast live makes third-party material safe to use.

Troubleshooting: the stream stops or does not start
- The stream ends when the PC sleeps: the encoder is running on that PC. Keep the PC awake for a local setup, or move the prerecorded stream to an independently running cloud service.
- The encoder cannot connect: verify the stream URL and key in the encoder and confirm that the channel is eligible to livestream. Treat the key as a password; if it may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder.
- The preview is unstable or stream health is poor: check available upload bandwidth, account for other users and devices on the network, and reduce encoder bitrate or resolution to a sustainable setting. Preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% bandwidth headroom.
- The broadcast drops during a network interruption: restore the connection, check the encoder and YouTube stream health, and restart the stream if needed. A home connection can fail even when the video file and PC are functioning.
- You expect viewers to rewind or expect a complete archive: plan those separately. DVR may be limited for streams longer than 12 hours, and YouTube’s stated automatic archive behavior applies to streams under 12 hours; neither feature extends a stopped live feed.
