If you run the stream, the most likely reason is that the video or playlist feeding it has reached its end and the encoder or hosting service has stopped sending content. YouTube says an encoder-based stream ends when the encoder stops sending content. If you mean a playlist you are watching, that is a different playback issue: the live broadcast itself may still be running, or the player may have reached the end of a playlist item.
First, work out which playlist ended
“Playlist” can mean the source videos used to create a broadcast, or a viewer’s playlist of watch-page items. The fix depends on whether you own the stream and whether the live watch page itself has ended.
| What you mean | What to check first |
|---|---|
| You operate the 24/7 broadcast | Check whether the source file or media playlist has finished, whether the encoder is still sending data, and whether the hosting service is set to repeat or restart the source. |
| You are watching someone else’s broadcast | Open the live watch page directly and check whether that broadcast is still live. If it is, the issue may be the viewer playlist or playback path rather than the stream feed. |
The exact viewer-side autoplay controls vary by app and device; without knowing which one you use, it would be misleading to give a specific menu path.
If you run the stream, why it stops
An encoder-based YouTube Live broadcast depends on a continuing feed from the encoder. YouTube’s encoder instructions say, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” If a single source video finishes and nothing else is queued, looped, or restarted, the encoder may stop sending content and the live broadcast can end.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check the source’s repeat setting and the hosting service’s restart behavior. For continuous repetition, configure the source or service to loop; do not assume a playlist repeats just because the broadcast is intended to be 24/7. YouTube’s setup instructions also require the encoder to use the live server URL and stream key for the broadcast.
Diagnose the feed before changing settings
- Check the live watch page. See whether the broadcast is marked live or has ended. If it is still live, test the same watch page on another device or playback path before changing the encoder.
- Inspect the encoder or host dashboard. Confirm that the source has not reached its end and that the service still reports an active outgoing feed. If the source finished, enable looping or arrange for another source to take over.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend checking the preview and stream quality. Compare that preview with the public watch page to distinguish an incoming-feed problem from a viewer-specific playback issue.
- Verify any local recording. Check that the archive file is present and growing while the broadcast is supposed to be running. YouTube also recommends checking that the event is available on the channel and testing playback on mobile.
- Confirm audio and video continue after the playlist boundary. A picture that freezes, a silent feed, or an inactive source can reveal that the next item did not start even if the dashboard still appears open.
For hosted looping, StreamNeo’s study-stream guide describes preparing and testing an MP4, uploading it, setting it to loop, and adding the YouTube destination. Follow the current controls in whichever service you use; menu names and restart options are service-specific.

Do not mistake YouTube’s 12-hour notes for a stream cutoff
YouTube’s archive guidance says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived. Its separate DVR guidance says rewind may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. These notes concern archive capture and DVR, not an automatic live-broadcast termination at hour 12. A stream that stops at that point needs incident-specific diagnosis rather than an assumption that the 12-hour threshold ended it.
If you are only watching
- Open the live video itself rather than relying on a playlist item, then check whether the watch page still says it is live.
- If the live page remains active, try refreshing or opening it on another device to see whether the problem follows one player.
- If the live page has ended, the broadcaster’s feed may have stopped; a viewer cannot make the creator’s encoder resume.
These checks identify whether the issue is likely on the viewer’s playback path or the creator’s live feed. The exact player or app settings depend on the service and device.
