Apple Music Replay is the official place to check your listening time. Open Replay in the Music app or visit replay.music.apple.com to see the monthly or year-end statistics available for your account. Replay can show time listened, but Apple does not document a permanent, live counter for all-time minutes in the standard Music app.
Check listening time on iPhone or iPad
- Update iOS or iPadOS and the Music app if an update is available.
- Open Music and tap Home.
- Scroll to Replay: Your Top Music.
- Tap Go back in time, then move through the Replay cards to find the listening-time statistic, if one is available for your account.
These are Apple’s current English-language labels; wording or placement can vary by region, language, or software version. Apple’s Replay instructions cover the feature and its availability.
Check on Android
Replay is also available in the Apple Music app on Android. Update the app if needed, open it, select Home, scroll to Replay: Your Top Music, and tap Go back in time. The same qualification applies: the cards shown depend on the listening history available to Apple.

What Replay tells you—and what it does not
Replay uses listening history, play counts, and time spent listening to create monthly and year-end insights. Depending on eligibility and the statistics Apple presents for your account, you may see listening time alongside information such as top songs, artists, albums, genres, milestones, and playlists. Apple does not promise that every user will see a minutes figure for every month or year.
Replay also includes an All Time playlist of frequently played music. That playlist is not the same as a guaranteed all-time total of minutes listened. Replay is best understood as Apple’s periodic listening summary, not a continuously updating stopwatch for today or a permanent lifetime counter. Its cards may take time to refresh.

Neither iPhone Screen Time nor the Music app’s Library, Now Playing, or standard Recently Played views are substitutes for a Replay listening-time statistic. Screen Time measures app usage, not how long music was actually playing.
If Replay is missing or seems incomplete
- Check the account. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple Account tied to your Apple Music subscription. If you have changed accounts, do not assume their listening histories have been combined.
- Check the subscription and updates. Confirm your subscription is active and install available app and operating-system updates.
- Enable Use Listening History on each device.
- iPhone or iPad: Settings > Apps > Music > Use Listening History.
- Mac: In Music, choose Music > Settings > General > Use Listening History.
- Android: In Apple Music, choose More > Settings > Use Listening History.
- Listen and check again later. Apple says Replay appears after you have played enough music, but does not publish a precise minimum number of plays, days, or minutes. You can also try the web version at replay.music.apple.com.
If listening history was off, turning it on should allow future activity to be recorded. Apple does not promise that it can reconstruct every period when the setting was disabled. A low-looking total could also reflect a selected month or year rather than all-time listening, or activity that did not sync as expected; these are possibilities, not confirmed explanations for every discrepancy. Apple does not fully specify how every combination of catalog streams, downloads, purchases, local files, and playback devices is counted. Using the same Apple Account and enabling listening history across devices is the safest setup.

Need live or longer-term tracking?
If you want a running history beyond Replay’s monthly and yearly summaries, a dedicated tracker may help—but it generally cannot guarantee recovery of all past listening.
- Last.fm: Scrobbling records listening activity for charts and longer-term history. It can be useful across services, but tracking typically starts after setup; do not assume it imports your complete Apple Music past.
- snd.wave: Its maker describes it as an Apple Music and iTunes statistics app with library analysis and monthly or yearly stats. Features and results depend on the app’s access to your data, device, and library configuration.
- Other statistics apps: Review what data an app can access and how it handles it before connecting your account or library. App compatibility, permissions, and accuracy vary.
For developers, Apple’s MusicKit Replay-data endpoint and recently played endpoint can support custom tools. They are API resources, not a quick consumer-facing counter.
