For the historical U.S. week of March 25–31, 2025, the 7 top new movies to stream this week on Netflix, Prime Video, Max and Disney Plus include Holland, Mufasa: The Lion King, and A Complete Unknown. The seven-film slate also includes Netflix, Hulu, Max, and Shudder releases spanning family animation, music, romance, prestige drama, thriller, and horror.
The original guide’s strongest recommendation is Holland, but the week offers a more useful range than that single pick suggests. Families have a new Disney prequel, music fans get a Bob Dylan biopic, and viewers seeking darker material can choose between a fraternity thriller and a care-home horror film.

Which new streaming movie is the best pick this week?
Holland is the guide’s strongest overall recommendation, although the best choice depends on your mood. The Prime Video mystery thriller stars Nicole Kidman as Nancy Vandergroot, a woman whose seemingly perfect suburban life begins to unravel when disturbing secrets surface. The selection is an editorial judgment from the original weekly guide, not an independently verified quality ranking.

1. Why watch Holland on Prime Video?
Holland is a mystery thriller about Nancy Vandergroot, whose orderly suburban existence starts to collapse as troubling secrets emerge. Mimi Cave directs Nicole Kidman, Matthew Macfadyen, and Jude Hill in the central cast. Prime Video lists Holland as a 2025 film with an approximately 1-hour-49-minute runtime.
The original weekly guide names Holland its top pick, making it the natural first choice for viewers who want a new streaming original rather than a franchise continuation or a conventional feel-good drama. The recommendation reflects that guide’s opinion and should not be read as a universal critical verdict.
2. Is Mufasa: The Lion King worth watching on Disney+?
Mufasa: The Lion King is Disney’s prequel about Mufasa’s rise from an orphaned cub and his relationship with Taka, the lion who will become Scar. Rafiki narrates the story to Kiara, while Timon and Pumbaa provide comic relief. Disney announced the film’s U.S. Disney+ streaming debut for March 26, 2025.
The film is the family-facing franchise event in this week’s lineup. The original guide praises its ambitious computer-generated imagery but considers the follow-up less emotionally powerful than the 2019 The Lion King remake and questions whether the prequel was necessary. Those comments belong to the guide’s assessment rather than independent testing, so families should approach Mufasa primarily as a large-scale animated musical adventure.

The official studio page describes the New York music-scene setting and Dylan’s rise.
Hulu’s official trailer announcement lists March 27, 2025, as the Hulu streaming date. The film suits viewers interested in music history, Bob Dylan, awards-season performances, and performance-led biopics. The original guide presents Chalamet’s work positively and calls the film broadly accessible, but the supplied research does not establish a universal critical consensus.

The original guide describes it as comforting and likely to please a broad audience, while distinguishing it from a critical standout.
If the adaptation prompts you to explore its source material, the book that inspired The Life List is Lori Nelson Spielman’s novel. The novel and film should not be assumed to be identical simply because the film is based on the book.

6. Why is The Line a darker campus thriller?
The Line follows Tom, played by Alex Wolff, a scholarship student who pledges a fraternity and discovers that the promised status and connections come with darker consequences. Hulu’s March 2025 schedule lists The Line as a 2023 Utopia film added on March 28, 2025.
The film is a better fit for viewers interested in fraternity culture, social pressure, college power structures, and darker campus dramas than for viewers seeking a lighthearted Greek-life comedy. The original guide explicitly contrasts The Line with more playful fraternity movies. The film should not be described as a Hulu Original based on the supplied schedule.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.7. Is The Rule of Jenny Pen a good horror choice?
The Rule of Jenny Pen is a contained psychological horror film about a retired judge in a care home who is terrorized by an elderly resident using a child’s puppet as an instrument of intimidation. John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush star. The original weekly guide lists the film for Shudder on March 28, 2025, and describes it as gripping and unsettling, while acknowledging that parts of the story can feel predictable.
The film is the clearest choice for horror fans and viewers who prefer an oppressive institutional setting over a large-scale supernatural spectacle. The March 28 Shudder date is supported by the original guide, but the research did not locate a sufficiently authoritative surviving Shudder launch announcement; Shudder’s official service page verifies the platform, not a historical title-specific U.S. launch date.
