Short answer: If you mean the Michael Myers franchise, there are 13 released Halloween feature films—but no single U.S. streaming service carries all of them. The best first-time route is Halloween (1978) → Halloween (2018) → Halloween Kills → Halloween Ends.
U.S. availability was checked in late July 2026. The listings below are a snapshot: films move between subscription services, premium-channel add-ons, free-with-ads platforms, digital stores, and physical media. Always verify the offer before subscribing or renting.

What counts as every Halloween movie?
This guide uses the Michael Myers franchise: the 13 released feature films connected to the Halloween series. It does not include every movie with “Halloween” in its title or every film listed in a Halloween-season category on Netflix, Hulu, or another service.
The franchise is split across several continuities, and no single U.S. streaming service carries all 13 films. The complete list currently spans more than 20 services when subscription platforms, channel add-ons, free-with-ads services, digital stores, and disc retailers are counted.

Availability note: The U.S. listings below were checked in late July 2026. Streaming rights, channel packages, rental prices, and disc inventory can change at any time. A title marked as available through a channel means it may require that channel add-on rather than a standard subscription.
The quickest way to watch the essential story
For a first-time viewer, watch Halloween (1978) → Halloween (2018) → Halloween Kills (2021) → Halloween Ends (2022).
This four-film route is the cleanest modern story. Halloween (2018) follows the original 1978 film and disregards the intervening sequels. Halloween Kills continues the 2018 story, and Halloween Ends concludes that trilogy. You do not need to watch Halloween II, H20, or the other sequels before starting the 2018 branch.

The table separates subscription access from channel access, free-with-ads viewing, and transactional options. “Rent or buy” means the film is not necessarily included with a subscription; the listed store may offer either a rental, a purchase, or both.

| Film | Continuity | U.S. availability snapshot |
|---|---|---|
| Halloween (1978) | Original continuity; also the starting point for the H20 and 2018 branches | Listed with AMC+, Shudder, fuboTV, Philo, YouTube TV, Cultpix, and related channel bundles. Xumo Play was listed as a free-with-ads option. Digital rental or purchase was listed through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. |
| Halloween II (1981) | Direct continuation of the 1978 film | Listed with YouTube TV and the MovieSphere+ Amazon Channel. Pluto TV was listed as a free-with-ads option. Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home offered rental or purchase options. |
| Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) | Standalone anthology entry | No free streaming option was identified in the check. Digital rental or purchase was listed through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. |
| Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) | Original/Thorn continuity | Subscription and channel availability included AMC+/Shudder-related offerings in the reviewed listings. Digital rental and purchase options, along with DVD and Blu-ray listings, were also available. |
| Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) | Original/Thorn continuity | The franchise listing included current digital and disc offers, but service availability is particularly subject to rotation. Check the title-level U.S. listing for the current subscription, rental, purchase, and physical-media categories before watching. |
| Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) | Original/Thorn continuity | The standard version had streaming and digital-purchase offers in the reviewed franchise listings. The Producer’s Cut had no streaming offer in the separate title listing; collectors should look for a licensed physical release instead. |
| Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998) | H20 continuity | Listed with Max/HBO Max, Cinemax channel variants, and YouTube TV. Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home offered rental or purchase options. DVD and Blu-ray listings were also available. |
| Halloween: Resurrection (2002) | H20 continuity | Listed with Max/HBO Max, Cinemax channel variants, and YouTube TV. Digital rental or purchase was available through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, Fandango At Home, and Spectrum On Demand. No free streaming option was identified in the check. |
| Halloween (2007) | Rob Zombie remake continuity | Availability is volatile and should be checked at the title level immediately before viewing. Be sure to select the 2007 Rob Zombie film rather than the 1978 or 2018 films, which have nearly identical titles. |
| Halloween II (2009) | Rob Zombie remake continuity | Availability is also especially changeable. Search specifically for the 2009 Rob Zombie sequel and verify whether the result is included with a subscription, offered through a channel, or available only to rent or buy. |
| Halloween (2018) | 2018 legacy trilogy | Current platform availability should be rechecked at publication or viewing time. It is the direct sequel to the 1978 original for continuity purposes, not a continuation of Halloween II or the H20 branch. |
| Halloween Kills (2021) | 2018 legacy trilogy | Search the current U.S. title listing before watching. It is the direct sequel to Halloween (2018) and the middle film in the modern trilogy. |
| Halloween Ends (2022) | 2018 legacy trilogy | Peacock carried the film at launch, but launch availability should not be treated as a current guarantee. Recheck the title’s present subscription, rental, and purchase offers. Watch Halloween (1978), Halloween (2018), and Halloween Kills first for the intended modern-trilogy context. |
How to read the streaming listings
- Subscription: The film is included with the listed service’s applicable plan, subject to the service’s current terms.
- Channel or premium add-on: The movie may appear inside a service such as an Amazon channel or a premium channel package without being included in the base subscription.
- Free with ads: You can watch without a rental charge, but advertising is inserted and the offer may disappear sooner than a paid listing.
- Rent or buy: A digital storefront provides access for a rental period or permanent digital purchase. This is often the simplest way to fill one gap in a watch order without adding another monthly subscription.
- Disc: DVD, Blu-ray, or 4K media provides more stable access when rights move between services, but the exact cut, region, and included extras need to be checked.
JustWatch is useful for this comparison because it separates subscription, free-with-ads, rental, purchase, and disc offers across hundreds of services. Set the country to the United States, then check the individual film page rather than relying only on a franchise landing page.

Best watch orders, explained
1. First-time route: the 2018 legacy trilogy
- Halloween (1978)
- Halloween (2018)
- Halloween Kills (2021)
- Halloween Ends (2022)
This route preserves the original film’s importance while avoiding the franchise’s continuity tangles. The 2018 movie treats the 1978 film as the relevant history and ignores the other sequels. The latter three movies then form a self-contained modern trilogy.
2. Release order: all 13 films
- Halloween (1978)
- Halloween II (1981)
- Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
- Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
- Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
- Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
- Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
- Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
- Halloween (2007)
- Halloween II (2009)
- Halloween (2018)
- Halloween Kills (2021)
- Halloween Ends (2022)
Release order is the best choice for a completionist who wants to see how the series changed from Carpenter’s stripped-down slasher, through the Thorn mythology and H20 revival, to Rob Zombie’s reimagining and the 2018 relaunch. It is also the least convenient streaming route because the films move between several services and transactional stores.
3. Original/Thorn continuity
- Halloween (1978)
- Halloween II (1981)
- Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
- Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)
- Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
Halloween III is not part of Michael Myers’s continuing story, so it is best viewed separately. The fourth, fifth, and sixth films continue the storyline after Halloween II, including the Thorn mythology. The Curse of Michael Myers is available in more than one notable version, so confirm whether a listing is the theatrical cut or the Producer’s Cut.

4. H20 continuity
- Halloween (1978)
- Halloween II (1981)
- Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
- Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
This branch follows the sibling premise established by the 1981 sequel and brings Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode in H20. It bypasses Halloween 4, Halloween 5, and The Curse of Michael Myers. Resurrection continues the H20 branch.
Because the two H20 films were listed with Blu-ray and DVD options, a physical copy can be a practical fallback for completionists. If you are looking specifically for one, compare a Halloween H20 Blu-ray and verify the edition, region, and seller before buying.

5. Rob Zombie’s remake continuity
- Halloween (2007)
- Halloween II (2009)
These are separate reimaginings, not sequels to the 1978, 1981, or 2018 films. The 2009 movie follows Zombie’s 2007 version and should be watched immediately after it. The titles are easy to confuse in search results, so confirm the year and director before pressing play.
6. Standalone anthology entry
Halloween III: Season of the Witch has a new story, new characters, and no Michael Myers. It was designed as an anthology-style departure from the first two movies. Its lack of Michael is not a missing scene or an alternate cut; it is the premise of the film. It works as a standalone Halloween-season watch and can be placed anywhere in a marathon.
Should you rent the movies or buy physical copies?
For one continuity, renting individual titles is usually less expensive and less cumbersome than subscribing to multiple services. The original 1978 film and the H20 films had comparatively broad options in the reviewed U.S. listings, while Halloween III was primarily a digital rental or purchase, with no free option identified at the check.
For all 13 films, physical media becomes more appealing because streaming rights are fragmented. A Halloween 4K Blu-ray or broader Halloween Blu-ray purchase may provide dependable access to an individual installment, but do not assume that a product contains all 13 films. Check the exact title, format, region, theatrical or alternate cut, and included discs before ordering.
The Curse of Michael Myers is the most important edition warning. Its theatrical version and Producer’s Cut are not interchangeable, and the reviewed Producer’s Cut listing had no streaming offer. A collector seeking that version should look for a legitimate physical release rather than treating a standard streaming listing as equivalent.
How to avoid choosing the wrong Halloween movie
Search results regularly mix three different films named Halloween:
- Halloween (1978): John Carpenter’s original.
- Halloween (2007): Rob Zombie’s reimagining.
- Halloween (2018): the legacy sequel that follows only the 1978 original.
Use the year, director, and poster art to confirm the result. The same problem occurs with Halloween II: the 1981 sequel and the 2009 Rob Zombie film belong to different continuities.
Also distinguish an ordinary streaming result from a channel add-on. For example, an Amazon Channel listing may require a separate subscription even though the film appears in Amazon’s search interface. Likewise, a free-with-ads listing is not the same as an ad-free subscription inclusion.
What about other Halloween movies?
If you mean Halloween-themed movies rather than the Michael Myers franchise, the answer is much larger and depends on the type of movie you want. Official Netflix and Hulu seasonal categories include unrelated titles such as Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Fear Street, and Saw. Those are recommendation shelves, not entries in the Halloween franchise.
This distinction matters when searching for “every Halloween movie.” A Halloween-season list may contain family films, anthology horror, slashers, and supernatural movies that have no connection to Michael Myers.

A practical checklist before starting a marathon
- Choose a continuity or commit to release order.
- Search using the title and year, especially for the three films named Halloween.
- Set your availability search to the United States.
- Check whether the result is subscription-included, a channel add-on, free with ads, rental-only, or purchase-only.
- For The Curse of Michael Myers, confirm which cut you are watching.
- Recheck Halloween (2007), Halloween II (2009), and the 2018–2022 films immediately before viewing because their current platform homes can change.
- Use licensed services and legitimate physical media; this guide does not recommend VPN-based access or unlicensed streams.
How this availability guide was assembled: The platform snapshot uses U.S. title-level listings from JustWatch, which separates subscription, free-with-ads, rental, purchase, and disc availability. Continuity descriptions are cross-checked against official franchise explainers from Peacock and Hulu. Recheck listings before publication or viewing because rights are temporary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Halloween III part of the Michael Myers story?
No. Halloween III: Season of the Witch is an anthology-style standalone story with no Michael Myers. It can be watched separately from every Myers continuity.
Do I need to watch every Halloween sequel before Halloween Ends?
No. The 2018 film follows the 1978 original and ignores the previous sequels. The intended modern route is Halloween (1978), Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends.
Is The Curse of Michael Myers Producer’s Cut the same movie as the theatrical version?
No. The theatrical cut and Producer’s Cut are different versions of The Curse of Michael Myers. The reviewed U.S. listing showed no streaming offer for the Producer’s Cut, so confirm the edition and consider licensed physical media.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteAre the 2007, 2009, and 2018 Halloween movies connected?
No. The 2007 and 2009 films are Rob Zombie’s separate reimagining. The 2018 film is a different relaunch that follows the 1978 original and disregards the earlier sequels.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Start with Halloween (1978), then watch the 2018 legacy trilogy if you want the cleanest story. For all 13 films, use release order or follow the continuity map, and expect to combine subscriptions, channel add-ons, digital rentals, and physical media rather than finding the entire franchise on one service.
