The ceremony was broadcast on ABC and streamed on ESPN+ on July 16, 2025. To watch now, look for the official replay on ESPN’s ESPYS hub, ESPN, Disney+, or Hulu. The only clearly free-after-hardware option was local ABC reception with an antenna; there is no verified permanent free online stream.
The 2025 ESPYS are no longer airing live. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time. It was broadcast on ABC and streamed live on ESPN+. As of August 12, 2026, the practical question is how to find the replay—not how to watch a live broadcast.
Start with the official 2025 ESPYS replay
Go first to ESPN’s official ESPYS hub, which listed a replay of The 2025 ESPYS. You can also search for that exact title in the ESPN, Disney+, and Hulu apps.
Replay availability can change. Your location, account, subscription, and the service’s current catalog may determine whether the full ceremony plays. If one app does not show it, check the other official destinations rather than relying on unofficial “free ESPN” websites or social-media rebroadcasts.

Was there a free way to watch the ESPYS?
There was one genuinely free-after-hardware route for eligible viewers: over-the-air ABC. Because the ceremony aired on ABC, anyone within range of a participating local ABC affiliate could have watched the live broadcast with a compatible TV or tuner and an antenna. This avoids a monthly cable or streaming-TV bill, although the antenna itself may cost money.
An indoor HDTV antenna may work if your local ABC station reaches your home. Reception depends on your ZIP code, distance from the transmitter, building materials, nearby obstructions, antenna placement, and the strength of the local signal. An antenna is not a guarantee that every household will receive ABC.
If you are considering this route for future ABC broadcasts, check local broadcast coverage before buying and make sure the antenna can connect to your television or external tuner.
How the original cable-free viewing options worked
| Method | What it provided | Was it free? | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| ABC with an antenna | The live broadcast in areas served by a local ABC affiliate | Free after the one-time antenna or tuner purchase | Reception and affiliate availability vary by location |
| ESPN+ | The original live stream on July 16, 2025, plus possible replay access | No; it is a subscription service unless a separate promotion applied | Do not assume a permanent free trial or free stream |
| Disney+ or Hulu | The on-demand ceremony beginning the day after the broadcast | No; access depends on the relevant subscription and catalog | Availability and plans can change |
| Live-TV streaming bundle | ABC in markets where the provider carried the local affiliate | Usually paid; a temporary trial may sometimes reduce the initial cost | Verify your ZIP code, current channel lineup, price, and trial terms |
Can you still use ESPN+, Hulu, or Disney+ to watch it?
Possibly, but no service should be treated as a guaranteed permanent source of the replay. ESPN’s event announcement identified ESPN+ as the live streaming destination and said the show would be available on demand the next day through Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+.

The safest sequence is:
- Search ESPN’s official ESPYS page for the 2025 replay.
- Search the ESPN app for The 2025 ESPYS.
- Search the Disney+ and Hulu apps using the same title.
- Check whether your account and region are entitled to play the full episode.
Do not confuse “without cable” with “free.” ESPN+, Disney+, Hulu, and live-TV streaming bundles can replace a traditional cable package, but they generally still require a paid subscription.
What about Fubo or DIRECTV STREAM?
Live-TV streaming services such as Fubo and DIRECTV STREAM have been used as cable replacements and may carry ABC in eligible markets. They are potential solutions for someone who needs live broadcast-network access, but they are not universal options.
Before signing up, enter your ZIP code and confirm all of the following:
- Your local ABC affiliate is included—not merely ABC in some other market.
- The service’s current price and plan requirements.
- Whether a free trial is available to you and when billing begins.
- Whether the service supports your television, phone, browser, or streaming device.
Trial lengths, prices, eligibility rules, channel lineups, and cancellation policies change. A trial that existed around the 2025 broadcast should not be presented as a current guaranteed offer in 2026.

Do not use unofficial “free” ESPYS streams
No reviewed official source identified an authorized free web stream separate from ABC, ESPN+, Disney+, Hulu, or a legitimate pay-TV replacement. Avoid websites promising “free ESPN” access through suspicious pop-ups, browser extensions, software downloads, or requests for unnecessary payment-card details.
Unofficial rebroadcasts can disappear without warning, expose you to malware or scams, and may infringe the event’s distribution rights. The official replay hub and the recognized streaming apps are safer places to look.
What you missed from the 2025 ESPYS

Among the winners were Simone Biles for Best Athlete—Women’s Sports, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for Best Athlete—Men’s Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles for Best Team, and Caitlin Clark for Best WNBA Player.

A note about later ESPN streaming changes
Disney announced a new direct-to-consumer ESPN service launching on August 21, 2025, with an unlimited plan covering ESPN networks, ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, and on-demand replays. That later service should not be described as the service that carried the July 16 live event. At the time of the ceremony, the official announcement specifically named ABC and ESPN+ for the live broadcast.
International access is also not established by the U.S. event information. The broadcast times and distribution details above apply to the U.S. sources reviewed; viewers elsewhere should check the local rights holder rather than assume that the U.S. apps or ABC feed are available.
