The March 8–9, 2025 weekend brought an unusually varied watchlist: a major science-fiction film in theaters, two reality-TV finales, a dark Marvel crime drama, new documentaries, broadcast premieres, and lighter food and romance options. The ten picks below are specific to that U.S. weekend, so their release dates and availability should not be read as a current streaming guide.
The biggest curiosity plays were CHAOS: The Manson Murders, Mickey 17, and Daredevil: Born Again. Viewers looking for event television had the finales of The Traitors and Love Is Blind, while ABC supplied live Sunday-night options with American Idol and the return of Doctor Odyssey.
The quick guide
| Title | What it was | U.S. availability that weekend | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| CHAOS: The Manson Murders | Investigative documentary | Netflix | Viewers drawn to contested historical mysteries |
| Mickey 17 | Science-fiction film | Theaters | A large-scale theatrical experience |
| Daredevil: Born Again | Crime-superhero series | Disney+ | Marvel viewers who prefer darker stories |
| The Traitors season 3 | Reality-competition finale and reunion | Peacock | A catch-up binge and spoiler-filled finale |
| Love Is Blind season 8 | Reality-dating finale and reunion | Netflix | Relationship drama and event viewing |
| American Idol season 23 | Talent competition premiere | ABC, next day on Hulu | Live Sunday-night television |
| Doctor Odyssey | High-concept medical drama | ABC, next day on Hulu | Medical melodrama with a disaster hook |
| The Way Home season 3 | Time-travel family-drama finale | Hallmark, next day on Hallmark+ | Comfort viewing and family mysteries |
| With Love, Meghan | Lifestyle series | Netflix | Cooking, hosting, gardening, and aspirational escapism |
| Picture This | Romantic comedy | Prime Video | A straightforward, low-stakes romance |
Important distinction: this was not a list of ten streaming premieres. Mickey 17 opened in cinemas, American Idol premiered on ABC with next-day Hulu availability, and The Way Home aired on Hallmark before becoming available the next day on Hallmark+.
The three highest-curiosity picks
1. CHAOS: The Manson Murders — Netflix
For documentary viewers, CHAOS: The Manson Murders was the weekend’s most immediately provocative selection. The film revisits Charles Manson and examines claims that his influence and the crimes associated with his group may connect to the CIA, LSD, and the MKULTRA program.

- Compact without compromises: The sleek design of Roku Streaming Stick won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, and it even powers from your TV alone, plugging into the back and staying out of sight. No wall outlet, no extra cords, no clutter.
- No more juggling remotes: Power up your TV, adjust the volume, and control your Roku device with one remote. Use your voice to quickly search, play entertainment, and more.
- Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.
- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
Those conspiracy-related claims require care. The documentary investigates and raises questions about them; it does not turn disputed interpretations into settled historical fact. The film draws on the reporting and arguments associated with Tom O’Neill and Dan Piepenbring’s 2019 book, CHAOS: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties.
Read more: If the documentary’s source material is what interests you most, you can read CHAOS by Tom O’Neill for the longer investigation behind the screen version. As with the documentary, the book’s theories should be approached as arguments and disputed claims to examine, not as automatically verified history.
This is the strongest choice for viewers who like archival mysteries, investigative documentaries, and stories that complicate the familiar version of a major American crime case.
2. Mickey 17 — in theaters
Mickey 17 was the weekend’s major theatrical release rather than an at-home streaming title. Bong Joon Ho’s science-fiction film stars Robert Pattinson as Mickey, an “expendable” worker whose body can be regenerated after death. That premise turns labor, identity, and survival into the film’s central science-fiction problem.
Mark Ruffalo plays Kenneth Marshall, the authoritarian political leader of the expedition. Bong’s reputation following Parasite made this a high-profile cinema option, but the practical point is just as important: on March 8–9, 2025, the appropriate way to watch it was in a movie theater, not through a streaming subscription.
Choose Mickey 17 if you want the weekend’s biggest-screen experience and are in the mood for ambitious science fiction with an unusual central character.
3. Daredevil: Born Again — Disney+
Daredevil: Born Again offered Marvel fans a darker alternative to lighter superhero fare. Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, while Vincent D’Onofrio reprised Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. The series continues the earlier Netflix-era character story while streaming on Disney+.

Two episodes had premiered on March 4, meaning two episodes were available by this weekend—not the complete season. That made it a good early binge for viewers willing to catch up, but not a finished series to consume in one sitting.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Reality-TV finales worth catching up on
4. The Traitors season 3 finale and reunion — Peacock
Peacock had released the season-three finale and reunion on March 6, placing the conclusion of Alan Cumming’s reality-competition season in the ideal weekend catch-up window. Viewers who had avoided spoilers could watch both parts together, while existing fans had a reason to revisit the season before the conversation moved on.
Spoiler warning: The following recommendation discusses the format and timing of the finale, not its outcome.
The Traitors is the pick for viewers who want strategy, alliances, deception, and a concentrated binge. Because both the finale and reunion were available before the weekend, it functioned less like a single new episode and more like a completed television event.

5. Love Is Blind season 8 finale and reunion — Netflix
Netflix released the season-eight finale of Love Is Blind on March 7, with the reunion scheduled for Sunday, March 9 at 9 p.m. Eastern. The finale followed the remaining couples as viewers found out which relationships made it to the altar.

Spoiler warning: The format and release schedule are discussed here; the outcomes of the relationships are not.
The two-part structure made this a natural weekend watch: the finale was available immediately, while the reunion supplied a Sunday-night appointment. Choose it over The Traitors if relationship decisions, wedding-day pressure, and post-season confrontation are more appealing than strategic gameplay.
Watch live on ABC—or the next day on Hulu
6. American Idol season 23 — ABC and Hulu
Season 23 of American Idol premiered Sunday, March 9 at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC. Carrie Underwood joined Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan as a judge, replacing Katy Perry.

This was a live-broadcast choice first, not a same-night Hulu debut. The episode was scheduled to become available on Hulu the following day. That distinction matters if you were planning a Sunday-night watch: ABC was the immediate destination, while Hulu was the next-day fallback.
It is the uncomplicated pick for viewers who want auditions, performances, judging, and a familiar competition format rather than a scripted story.
7. Doctor Odyssey midseason premiere — ABC and Hulu
ABC’s Doctor Odyssey returned on March 6 with a two-part storyline involving a shark attack. Joshua Jackson leads the medical drama, which places its professional and romantic storylines aboard a cruise ship.

The series continued to air weekly on ABC, with episodes becoming available on Hulu the next day. Its premise is intentionally heightened: cruise-ship medicine, romance, and disaster are all part of the package. The shark-attack return is the clearest indication of the show’s tone and makes it a useful choice when ordinary hospital drama sounds too restrained.

8. The Way Home season 3 finale — Hallmark and Hallmark+
The Way Home season-three finale aired on Hallmark on Friday, March 7 at 8 p.m. Eastern and was scheduled for next-day availability on Hallmark+. The time-travel family drama follows three generations of Landry women whose lives intersect across different periods.
Like American Idol, this was a linear-TV premiere with a next-day streaming option—not a same-night streaming launch. It is the gentlest of the weekend’s event finales, combining family relationships, a long-running mystery, and time travel.
Choose it when you want emotional comfort and an ongoing family story instead of the sharper tension of CHAOS, Daredevil, or the reality-competition finales.
Lighter alternatives
9. With Love, Meghan — Netflix
With Love, Meghan was the weekend’s lightest and most aspirational option. Meghan Markle’s eight-episode lifestyle series focuses on cooking, hosting, gardening, and entertaining at home in Montecito, with all eight episodes available to stream on Netflix.

This is not a replacement for a documentary investigation or scripted drama. Its appeal is the relaxed atmosphere: viewers can dip into a lifestyle watch built around food, home projects, hospitality, and presentation.
It works particularly well as a counterweight to the weekend’s crime, competition, superhero, and disaster programming. Pick it when you want something visually pleasant and low-pressure.
10. Picture This — Prime Video
Picture This was the straightforward romance choice. Simone Ashley plays Pia, who is dealing with pressure around her sister’s wedding and is introduced to five possible dates while another man competes for her attention. Hero Fiennes Tiffin co-stars as Charlie.

The setup places the film firmly in familiar romantic-comedy territory: complicated feelings, family expectations, multiple possible matches, and a central question about which relationship is genuine. It is a useful option for anyone who wants something less intense than CHAOS: The Manson Murders, Daredevil: Born Again, or Mickey 17.
How to choose your March 8–9 watch
- Want the most intriguing documentary? Start with CHAOS: The Manson Murders, while keeping its disputed theories in their proper context.
- Want a theater trip? See Mickey 17; it was the list’s theatrical release, not a streaming premiere.
- Want superheroes with a crime-drama edge? Choose the first two available episodes of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+.
- Want a completed reality-TV event? Catch up with The Traitors season 3 on Peacock.
- Want relationship drama? Watch the Love Is Blind finale, then the Sunday-night reunion.
- Want live Sunday television? Tune in to American Idol on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern.
- Want something knowingly over-the-top? Try Doctor Odyssey and its shark-attack return.
- Want a family-centered comfort drama? Watch The Way Home on Hallmark or use the next-day Hallmark+ option.
- Want lifestyle escapism? Choose all eight episodes of With Love, Meghan.
- Want a conventional romantic comedy? Put Picture This on Prime Video.
For viewers watching on a television rather than a built-in smart-TV app, a compatible 4K streaming device can provide access to services such as Netflix, Peacock, Disney+, Prime Video, Hulu, and Hallmark+, but no special hardware was required for any one title in this guide.
Frequently Asked Questions

The Bottom Line
The March 8–9, 2025 lineup was strongest when treated as a menu rather than a single streaming dump: CHAOS: The Manson Murders for investigative curiosity, Mickey 17 for the theater, Daredevil: Born Again for darker superhero drama, the two reality finales for event viewing, and ABC, Hallmark, Netflix, and Prime Video for everything from live television to low-pressure romance.
