Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have two adult children: Travis Sedgwick Bacon, born in 1989, and Sosie Ruth Bacon, born in 1992. Travis has built a career around music and composition, while Sosie is an actor known for projects including Smile, 13 Reasons Why, Mare of Easttown, and Narcos: Mexico.
The family’s creative paths have occasionally overlapped. Sosie acted in films directed by one of her parents, and all four Bacons and Sedgwicks worked together on Kevin Bacon’s scripted comedy-horror feature Family Movie, which premiered at SXSW in March 2026.

How many children do Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have?
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick have two children: Travis and Sosie. Travis is the older sibling, born in 1989, and Sosie is the younger sibling, born in 1992. Public reporting has consistently identified them as the couple’s son and daughter; they do not have three children or two daughters.
Bacon and Sedgwick married in September 1988 after meeting while working on the PBS production of Lemon Sky. Their children grew up while both parents maintained high-profile acting careers, but the couple have said they tried not to make Hollywood the focus of family life. In a 2019 interview, Bacon said the family did not routinely discuss his and Sedgwick’s work and that the children did not grow up watching their parents’ movies as a regular family ritual. That account was reported by Us Weekly.

Travis Sedgwick Bacon
Travis Bacon is the elder of the two children. Unlike his parents and sister, his public professional profile has centered primarily on music rather than acting. Reporting has described him as a hardcore metal musician, and Apple Music maintains an artist page under his name.
His work also extends into film composition and production. The official SXSW listing for Family Movie credits Travis with the film’s music and identifies him as part of the producing team and cast. Those credits provide a more precise description of his current screen connection than unverified claims about a particular band, touring schedule, or record release.
Sosie Ruth Bacon
Sosie Bacon is the younger child and has pursued acting professionally. Her television credits include 13 Reasons Why, Narcos: Mexico, Mare of Easttown, and As We See It. She has also appeared in films, including the horror hit Smile.
Rank #2
Her most prominent leading film role is Rose Cotter in Parker Finn’s 2022 horror movie Smile. It is more accurate to describe the part as a prominent or breakthrough role than to assign it an unsupported award or career ranking. Readers looking to revisit that film can check the current availability of the Smile DVD; edition and retailer availability vary by country and should be confirmed before purchase. Disclosure: this may be a commerce recommendation; availability and eligibility for affiliate linking require verification.
Sosie’s résumé also includes early family-linked work. She appeared as a child in Loverboy, a film directed by Kevin Bacon. Later, she appeared in Story of a Girl, a Lifetime television film directed by Kyra Sedgwick and starring Kevin Bacon. Those connections are part of her career history, but they do not define the whole of it: she has developed an independent film and television résumé of her own.
The family’s biggest shared project: Family Movie
The most current major collaboration involving all four family members is Family Movie. According to the official SXSW program listing, Kevin Bacon directed the project, which is a United States narrative feature with an 81-minute runtime. The listing describes it as a scripted comedy-horror film—not a documentary and not a reality production.
Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Sosie Bacon, and Travis Bacon are all credited in the film’s cast and producing team. Travis is also credited with the music. The film’s world-premiere screenings took place at SXSW in March 2026. SXSW confirms the festival presentation and the family’s credits, but the available research does not establish a confirmed U.S. theatrical, rental, streaming, DVD, or Blu-ray release after the premiere. Viewers should therefore check official distributor announcements rather than assume that a consumer release is already available.
Do Travis and Sosie appear publicly with their parents?
Although neither child needs to be treated as a regular red-carpet celebrity, both have occasionally appeared with Bacon and Sedgwick at entertainment events. In June 2024, Travis and Sosie joined their parents at the Los Angeles premiere of MaXXXine, an appearance reported by Entertainment Tonight.
The appearance reflects the family’s public connection, but it does not establish details about either child’s private life, residence, relationships, income, or day-to-day activities. Those details have not been reliably established here and are not necessary to understand their professional work.
Travis and Sosie Bacon at a glance

The short answer
Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s two children followed different creative paths. Travis works mainly in music and film composition, while Sosie established herself as an actor with a substantial résumé beyond her parents’ projects. Their family collaborations—including Loverboy, Story of a Girl, and especially the 2026 SXSW feature Family Movie—show how their careers have sometimes intersected without making family connections the whole story.
