Hell’s Paradise Season 2 is no longer merely an announced project. The second season premiered in the Winter 2026 anime season, beginning its Japanese broadcast on Sunday, January 11, 2026. Crunchyroll announced a U.S. streaming premiere the same day, while the returning MAPPA production continued under director Kaori Makita.
This guide explains what is confirmed about the season, where the premiere was available, what the staff have said about its creative direction, and how the completed manga can help fans continue the story. Availability and schedules can vary by country, so streaming details should be checked against the service available in your region.
The short answer: Season 2 premiered on January 11, 2026
The official Japanese promotional video announced that Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku Season 2 would begin broadcasting on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 11:45 p.m. Japan time on TV Tokyo and other Japanese channels. The announcement also confirmed MAPPA’s involvement in the production. Watch the official promotional video.
That date has now passed: Season 2 should be described as released and airing in the Winter 2026 season, not as an anime still waiting for a premiere date. A contemporaneous episode guide identifies the season as a 12-episode season, and Crunchyroll’s Winter 2026 calendar lists the English version among its programming. Those listings support the season’s release status, but they should not be taken as confirmation that the anime has adapted the entire manga.

When and where could viewers watch Hell’s Paradise Season 2?
For viewers in the United States, Crunchyroll announced a streaming premiere for January 11, 2026, at 7:15 a.m. Pacific Time. Its announcement listed availability across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the CIS. See Crunchyroll’s release announcement.
That is a broad territory list, not a guarantee of identical availability in every country. Anime licensing can differ by territory, and a service’s catalog or release schedule can change after the original simulcast period. Viewers should therefore confirm the show’s listing, subtitles, and dub schedule in their local Crunchyroll catalog before subscribing or planning a watch-through.
Crunchyroll’s Winter 2026 calendar also listed an English version of the series. However, that calendar does not establish one universal English-dub release schedule for every territory. The safest conclusion is that an English-language version was part of the platform’s Winter 2026 programming, while the exact timing depends on the market and the current service listing.
MAPPA and the returning Season 2 staff
MAPPA remains the animation studio associated with the season. The studio’s own corporate material lists Hell’s Paradise Season 2 among its productions, independently supporting the studio credit.

What is Season 2 about?
Hell’s Paradise follows Gabimaru, a condemned ninja who is offered a chance at a pardon if he can travel to a mysterious island and retrieve an elixir capable of making the shogun immortal. He is sent alongside other condemned criminals, each supervised by an Asaemon executioner. The island’s monsters, strange biology, and powerful Tensen turn what begins as a dangerous expedition into a fight for survival.
Season 2 continues from that premise without changing the central conflict: the human participants must confront the Tensen and uncover more about the island’s secrets. Because the first season ended with major characters still trapped in the island’s wider struggle, the second season is a continuation of that ongoing mission rather than a separate story.

Readers who are beginning with the source material can start with Hell’s Paradise manga volume 1. Starting from the first volume is the best option for anyone who wants the manga’s original pacing, details, and character introductions rather than jumping directly into an uncertain chapter-to-episode transition.
Director Kaori Makita explains the season’s focus
In a Crunchyroll interview conducted with Newtype, Makita described unity as a central theme of the second season. The criminals and the Asaemon are forced to cooperate against the Tensen, creating a different kind of tension from the mistrust and individual survival instincts that defined much of the initial expedition.
Makita also said that Season 2 gives greater attention to character depth and to the Tensen themselves. That suggests the season is not focused only on escalating battles. The opposing side receives more background and narrative attention, while the human characters’ uneasy cooperation becomes an important part of the drama. Read Makita’s Season 2 interview.
Another production detail concerns Tao, the mysterious energy system used by the island’s strongest beings. Makita described a more developed visual treatment for Tao, including experiments with color, movement, elemental qualities, and smoky effects. The staff also differentiated how Tao appears for the Tensen from how it appears for human characters.
That is the director’s explanation of the visual approach, not an objective measurement of animation quality. It does, however, show that the production team considered Tao’s presentation an important part of making the second season’s supernatural conflict legible and distinctive.

Spoiler warning: what the manga confirms
The following section discusses the source manga’s publication status and later story material.
Yuji Kaku’s Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku manga is complete. It ran on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform from 2018 to 2021, and the Japanese publisher identifies Volume 13 as the final volume. Shueisha’s description of that concluding volume refers to the climactic conflict involving Rien, the Tensen, and the human forces.
That completion gives anime viewers a clear way to find out how the larger story ends: read the manga. It does not, by itself, prove that Season 2 is the final anime season or that the anime has adapted all 13 volumes. The available confirmed information establishes the second season’s release, staff, themes, and source material, but it does not confirm a Season 3 or the anime’s complete adaptation status.

- Season 2 is not awaiting a release date: its official Japanese premiere was January 11, 2026.
- Season 2 has not been confirmed as the final anime season: the completed manga does not automatically make the anime complete.
- A third season has not been established by the sources covered here: no Season 3 announcement should be presented as fact.
- The full manga has not been confirmed as adapted: the source material ends at Volume 13, but that is different from saying the anime has reached the ending.
- Streaming rights are not universal: Crunchyroll announced broad territories, but local catalogs and schedules can differ.
How to approach Season 2 as a new or returning viewer
- Watch or revisit Season 1 first. The island’s factions, Tao, the Tensen, and the criminal–Asaemon relationships are important to understanding the second season.
- Use the local Crunchyroll listing for current availability. The announced U.S. premiere time and international territory list are useful reference points, but they are not a substitute for checking your country’s catalog.
- Choose the manga based on your spoiler tolerance. Begin with Volume 1 for the complete original experience; do not jump ahead unless you have verified the corresponding anime coverage yourself.
- Do not assume the anime’s endpoint. The manga provides a finished story, but future anime coverage remains a separate production question.
