Markiplier’s live-action The Edge of Sleep was released first on Amazon Prime Video—but not on the date viewers were expecting. The six-episode series was announced for October 18, 2024, then appeared in full on Prime Video three days early, on October 15. It is now currently listed as a free, ad-supported series on Tubi.
That distinction matters: Prime Video is the answer to the original surprise-release story; Tubi is the currently verified place to watch it. Availability may vary by country, so viewers should check the title in their local Tubi catalog.

Why The Edge of Sleep was a surprise release
The series had a conventional date before it had a clearly identified streaming home. In Markiplier’s September 30, 2024 announcement, he gave the release date as October 18, 2024 but did not name the platform. The show then appeared on Prime Video on October 15, three days ahead of schedule.

Markiplier confirmed the unexpected arrival in his video “The Plan has CHANGED!!”. Contemporary coverage described the debut as unusually quiet: rather than arriving with an obvious, highly visible Prime Video promotional campaign, the series was discovered by viewers through Markiplier and fan posts. That describes the public rollout, not a confirmed explanation of Amazon’s internal release strategy, so “secretly released” is stronger wording than the available evidence supports.
The timeline therefore has three relevant dates:
- September 30, 2024: Markiplier announced an October 18 release date without identifying the service in “The Plan.”
- October 15, 2024: all six episodes appeared early on Prime Video.
- October 18, 2024: the originally announced release date and expected public launch date.
The early Prime Video debut was reported in coverage published October 16–17, 2024, including Collider’s report and coverage of the show’s early performance on the service.
Where can you watch the series now?
Tubi currently lists The Edge of Sleep with its complete six-episode season. In the United States, the title is presented as free to watch with advertising, rather than as a paid Prime Video subscription title. Tubi’s exact sign-in and playback requirements can vary depending on the device and territory, so it is safer not to promise that every viewer can watch without creating an account.
JustWatch’s U.S. listing also identifies Tubi as the current streaming option. A Canadian JustWatch listing and Tubi Canada page likewise identify the show there.

The 2025 Tubi rollout was publicly associated with the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, but availability outside the U.S. and Canada should be checked directly. A title can remain visible in a platform’s search results while playback rights are unavailable in a particular country. If the show does not play from the link, search for the exact title in the local Tubi website or app rather than relying only on Google or an old Prime Video page.
The original Prime Video title page documents the 2024 release, but its continued visibility should not be treated as proof that the series is still playable in every region. “Prime Video” is the technically accurate name for the streaming platform; an Amazon Prime membership and the Prime Video catalog are related, but they are not interchangeable terms.
What is The Edge of Sleep about?
The series begins with a frightening global sleep epidemic. Dave, a night watchman, finishes his shift and discovers that people who went to sleep the previous night have died. He and a small group of survivors must remain awake while trying to understand what caused the deaths and whether staying awake can save them.
That is the spoiler-free premise. The show develops into a supernatural mystery and thriller, but the details behind the outbreak, including later story elements, are best left unspoiled in a release and streaming guide.

It is a television adaptation of Markiplier’s podcast
The Edge of Sleep is not an entirely new Markiplier story created for television. It is the live-action adaptation of the fiction podcast released by QCODE in 2019.
The original audio series was created by Jake Emanuel and Willie Block, with Markiplier starring as well as producing. Mark Fischbach returns in the television version as Dave Torres. The adaptation changes the format and compresses the story: the podcast has eight audio episodes, while the television series has six visual episodes.
Podcast listeners should not expect a scene-for-scene recreation. The television version restructures the material for a shorter, visual format, so audio episodes, supporting characters, and story beats may not appear in exactly the same form. The podcast and the television series share the title and core premise, but they are separate versions of the story.

The compact runtime makes the season possible to complete in one sitting, although the story’s horror premise may make a slower viewing schedule more comfortable for some audiences.

Tubi credits Corey Adams as director. Prime Video lists New Regency as the studio, while the project is associated with QCODE, New Regency, Automatik, and Oddfellows in development and industry metadata.
Tubi labels the U.S. listing TV-14. Prime Video’s U.S. metadata uses a 16+ label and flags violence, substance use, alcohol use, smoking, foul language, and sexual content. Age ratings and content descriptors can differ by country, so viewers should check the rating displayed by their local service.

What happened to the podcast’s second season?
A separate QCODE announcement in 2022 discussed a second season of the podcast. That should not be confused with a renewal of the live-action television series.
No official television-season-two renewal is verified in the current Prime Video, Tubi, QCODE, or Markiplier listings reviewed for this article. QCODE’s current series page presents the original eight-episode podcast season, so the podcast announcement is not evidence that a second television season has been ordered or released.
How the early reception should be read
Initial reports cited an IMDb score of approximately 9.6 out of 10 from 443 user reviews. That was an early snapshot taken close to the surprise release, when the audience was relatively small and likely included a large number of highly engaged Markiplier fans.
IMDb’s current ratings page displays approximately 7.0 out of 10 from roughly 10,000 ratings, with episode scores varying. Ratings change over time, but the current figure is more useful for readers deciding whether to watch now than the unusually high score reported during the first days of release.

The six-episode adaptation is most directly aimed at:
- Markiplier fans who want to see him in a scripted live-action role;
- viewers who enjoy compact supernatural mysteries and survival thrillers;
- podcast listeners interested in comparing an audio-fiction story with its screen adaptation; and
- horror audiences looking for a short binge rather than a long-running series.
For the original question—what service released it?—the answer remains Prime Video. For the practical question—where can it be watched now?—the currently verified answer is Tubi, free with ads in the listed markets, subject to regional rights.
