Justin Payne and his cameraman Gerry have taken it upon themselves to ‘name and shame’ sexual predators around the Toronto area. Through their vigilantism, they have publicly shamed hundreds of predators in an attempt to take a stand against child exploitation.
A new VICE documentary has been released that follows Justin Payne’s intense late-night encounters as he pretends to be a 13-year-old boy online. It also details his experiences with the law enforcement community and how his actions are being received by local parents.
The film showcases Justin’s dedication to protecting children from dangerous individuals, but it also brings up questions about whether or not vigilante justice is really the best way to handle such cases. Law enforcement personnel often view Justin and Gerry’s work as irresponsible due to its lack of legal protection for those they target. On the other hand, many parents in Toronto laud their efforts, stating that more people like them should be actively seeking out and publicly shaming pedophiles.
