Shayna Hubers was convicted in 2014 for the murder of her former boyfriend, Ryan Poston – a case that has attracted nationwide attention and gained notoriety through its inclusion in multiple documentaries.
At the time of the tragic incident, Hubers had just returned from dinner with Poston at his Kentucky apartment and reportedly shot him six times while he sat on his couch. She later spent nearly three hours talking to police while in custody, during which time she reported dancing and singing. Prosecutor Michelle Snodgrass said that these actions showed “no remorse” for the crime.
The details of this case have become a fixture in American news media, as well as various documentaries that follow Hubers’ story and her attempts to appeal her conviction. During her appeals process, her attorneys argued that Poston’s death may have been caused by self-defense against an abusive partner, though this motion was ultimately rejected.
