House of Stuart was founded by Robert II of Scotland, the Stuarts first became the monarchs of Scotland during late 14 century and after they held the right to the crown of England, Ireland and Great Britain. The name stuart derives from the political position of office similar to the governor, known as stuard. It was originally adopted as the family surname by Walter Stuart, 3hrd high Stuard of Scotland who was the third member of the family to hold this position.

In total nine Stewart monarchs ruled only Scotland : Robert II of Scotland, Robert III of Scotland, James I of Scotland, James II of Scotland, James III of Scotland, James IV of Scotland, James V of Scotland, Mary I od Scotland and James VI od Scotland.The Stuarts claimed the England throne through the House of Tudor line that has extinct.

There were six Stuart rulers that ruled Scotland and England : James I of England(VI of Scotland), Charles I of England, Charles II of England, James II of England(VII of Scotland), Mary II of England and Anne of Great Britain and Ireland
