The award-winning documentary DIG! follows the turbulent journey of two iconic bands – The Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols. Directed by Ondi Timoner, this wild and captivating story gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the highs and lows of rock n’ roll life.
The film begins in 1996, when the Dandy Warhols had just signed with Capitol Records. At the same time, lead singer Anton Newcombe of The Brian Jonestown Massacre was determined to start a rock revolution with his band as allies. However, Newcombe’s ambition quickly takes an unexpected turn when he begins to feel envious of the success of his contemporaries, leading to tension between the two groups.
