The world is at a critical juncture with the launch of a second Green Revolution, this time spearheaded by powerful corporations such as Monsanto and DuPont. The aim of this revolution is to take over the global food supply with genetically modified (GMO) crops. But this is no ordinary revolution; it carries the potential for massive environmental destruction and public health issues if left unchecked.
Today’s agricultural landscape is dominated by giant agro-chemical complexes that are using GMOs to increase their profits, regardless of the potentially damaging impacts on our environment and health. That’s why it is so important for citizens to become better educated on the dangers of GMOs, as well as the threats posed by toxic intensive agriculture practices.
Thankfully, there are a number of films that can help raise awareness around these issues. One such film is “The World According To Monsanto”, a powerful documentary that examines how Monsanto has used its influence to shape global agriculture over the past century with devastating results. The film interviews farmers from around the world who have experienced first-hand how Monsanto’s products have impacted their land, crops and livelihoods. Best of all, it provides an actionable plan for how ordinary people can fight back against corporate control in agriculture.
We all have a responsibility to stay informed about what’s happening in the world around us and make sure we aren’t part of an industry that’s doing more harm than good. So take some time out to watch “The World According To Monsanto” and get involved in making sure our food system is safe, sustainable and just for everyone involved.
