The companies signed a multiyear distribution agreement on November 14, 2025, restoring Disney-owned programming. YouTube TV’s main plan is listed at $82.99 per month plus tax, but the settlement could still affect what you pay through new bundles, add-ons and genre-based tiers. No specific post-deal price increase has been announced.
What happened between YouTube TV and Disney?
Disney warned on October 23, 2025, that its networks could leave YouTube TV if the companies failed to renew their carriage agreement. Disney-owned channels went dark around the end of October after the previous deal expired. The blackout ended when the companies announced a multiyear agreement on November 14, 2025. Disney’s announcement is available at The Walt Disney Company.
The affected portfolio included ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN News, SEC Network, ACC Network, Disney Channel, FX, FXX, FX Movie Channel, Freeform and National Geographic networks. Local ABC availability still depends on the viewer’s market and YouTube TV’s local-station arrangements.
During the dispute, YouTube TV said it would offer a $20 credit if the interruption continued for an extended period. That was a temporary remedy, not a permanent reduction in the subscription rate. The company’s negotiating position, including its warning that Disney’s proposed terms could raise prices and reduce choice, is documented on the YouTube Blog; it does not establish the final agreement’s financial terms.

What the new agreement changes
Disney’s linear channels returned
The settlement restores Disney’s major live networks, including ESPN and ABC, alongside entertainment and sports channels. “ABC” does not guarantee every local affiliate: enter your ZIP code on YouTube TV’s live plan page to see the stations available in your market.
ESPN Unlimited may be included
Disney said ESPN’s direct-to-consumer Unlimited service would be available to YouTube TV subscribers at no additional charge. That language does not mean every subscriber automatically has access today, that every event appears in Unlimited, or that activation and device requirements are identical for every plan. Check the eligibility and activation instructions attached to your account.
Disney+ and Hulu can be integrated into selected offerings
The agreement allows the Disney+, Hulu bundle to be included in selected YouTube offerings. It does not say that every YouTube TV customer receives both services automatically. The eventual value depends on which plan you have, whether the bundle is included or sold as an add-on, and whether your household actually uses those libraries.
YouTube TV is moving toward more packages
YouTube TV has announced more than 10 genre-focused packages, including sports, news, family and entertainment options. Its announced sports concept includes major broadcasters, FS1, NBC Sports Network, ESPN networks and ESPN Unlimited, while features such as unlimited DVR, multiview, key plays and fantasy view are intended to remain available. The company also promotes products such as NFL Sunday Ticket and RedZone. The launch announcement is at YouTube’s genre-plan update.

Announcements are not a substitute for the live signup page. Before changing plans, confirm the current price, local channels, included networks, add-ons, recording access and whether moving plans cancels a promotion.
Why a carriage deal can raise your bill
YouTube TV is an internet-delivered multichannel bundle. You generally do not buy each Disney channel directly; YouTube TV negotiates a wholesale license for a portfolio, places that cost into one or more tiers and spreads it across subscribers.
- YouTube TV and Disney negotiate the wholesale fee and packaging terms.
- Disney licenses groups of channels rather than only the network an individual viewer watches.
- YouTube TV assigns those channels to a base plan, genre plan or add-on.
- The provider can recover higher costs through a higher base price, a new tier, a mandatory bundle or a separate add-on.
That is why the phrase “you’re about to pay for it” is an economic warning, not proof of a confirmed increase. The public agreement does not disclose wholesale fees or announce a new YouTube TV rate caused by Disney. The verified price is the current main-plan listing: $82.99 per month plus tax.

Who should stay with YouTube TV?
Stay if your household wants one broad live-TV subscription with major broadcast networks, ESPN and other Disney-owned channels, unlimited DVR, several profiles and three simultaneous streams. It is also the simplest option for viewers who use sports features such as multiview.
The trade-off is that $82.99 is already close to other full-size live-TV services, and you may still need separate subscriptions for premium entertainment libraries, ad-free viewing or niche sports.
When another service may be better
| Option | Best fit | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Hulu + Live TV | Households wanting live channels plus Hulu and Disney+ libraries | Can be poor value if you only need ESPN or ABC; compare ads, DVR and stream limits |
| Sling TV | Budget viewers needing a selective package, especially some ESPN access through Orange or Orange plus Blue | Local ABC, NBC and FOX vary by market; add-ons can erase savings |
| Fubo | Sports-oriented households | Verify ESPN, TNT, local stations, regional sports and premium add-on costs |
| Disney+ plus Hulu | On-demand Disney and television libraries without a full live bundle | Does not automatically replace local ABC or every linear ESPN network |
| ESPN direct streaming | Sports-first viewers who do not need a complete live-TV package | Event rights are divided among ESPN services, ABC, FOX, CBS, NBC, TNT and league products |
| Antenna plus targeted streaming | Viewers mainly seeking local ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC | Reception varies, and an antenna does not provide cable sports or entertainment networks |
Hulu’s official page explains its combined live-TV, Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN positioning at hulu.com/live-tv. Do not compare only headline prices: include every service and add-on your household needs.

Local ABC
Disney programming is restored, but local affiliate availability remains market-dependent. A ZIP-code lookup is more reliable than assuming every ABC station is included.
ESPN is not every sports event
Even with ESPN, ESPN2, SEC Network, ACC Network and ESPN Unlimited, rights can be split among multiple broadcasters and league-specific services. Identify the exact sport, league or team before switching.
“No additional cost” is not necessarily free
Included ESPN Unlimited has value only if your plan is eligible, activation succeeds and the event you want is part of that service. Its cost can still be reflected indirectly in the economics of the qualifying plan.
