ABC, ESPN and Disney-owned channels are back on YouTube TV. Disney and YouTube announced a new multi-year distribution agreement on November 14, 2025, ending a blackout that began when their previous contract expired on October 30. The deal restores Disney’s linear networks and promises YouTube TV subscribers access to ESPN’s Unlimited direct-to-consumer plan at no additional cost, although important details about eligibility, activation and feature access remain undisclosed.
What happened between YouTube TV and Disney?
The companies’ previous carriage agreement expired on October 30, 2025. Disney-owned channels then disappeared from YouTube TV for more than two weeks, removing ABC, ESPN and other entertainment, news and sports programming from subscribers’ lineups.
On November 14, Disney and YouTube announced a new multi-year distribution agreement. Channels began returning the same day. YouTube said previously recorded programming from affected networks was also expected to return to subscribers’ Libraries.
The dispute was especially disruptive during a major college-football period. It also illustrated how modern carriage negotiations increasingly involve both traditional television networks and access to streaming services.

What the agreement restores
| Service or programming | Status |
|---|---|
| ABC and ABC-owned stations | Restored, subject to local-market availability |
| ESPN and the ESPN network family | Restored on applicable YouTube TV plans |
| Disney-branded channels | Restored as part of Disney’s linear portfolio |
| Freeform | Restored |
| FX networks | Restored |
| National Geographic channels | Restored |
| ESPN Unlimited | To be made available to YouTube TV subscribers at no additional cost |
| Selected ESPN Unlimited programming in YouTube TV | Live and on-demand programming is planned for inclusion inside the YouTube TV experience |
| Disney+, Hulu bundle | May be included in select YouTube offerings; it is not automatically included for every subscriber |
Disney described the arrangement as carriage of its full linear portfolio. That means the traditional television networks are restored, but it does not mean that every Disney streaming title or every feature of a separate ESPN application automatically appears in YouTube TV.
What ESPN Unlimited means for YouTube TV subscribers
The agreement refers to three related but distinct benefits:
- Traditional ESPN carriage: Subscribers regain the ESPN channels included in their applicable YouTube TV package.
- ESPN Unlimited access: Disney said the new direct-to-consumer Unlimited Plan would be made available to YouTube TV subscribers at no additional cost.
- Programming within YouTube TV: A selection of ESPN Unlimited live and on-demand programming is expected to be available inside the YouTube TV interface.
The public announcement does not specify whether every ESPN Unlimited feature is included. It also does not fully explain the activation process, whether an ESPN or Disney account must be linked, which events will be available in YouTube TV, or whether the benefit applies to every YouTube TV tier.
It is therefore too broad to say that subscribers receive the entire ESPN Unlimited service with identical app functionality. Questions about simultaneous streams, downloads, alternate feeds, authentication and other app-specific features remain dependent on YouTube and ESPN’s implementation.

When will ESPN Unlimited appear in YouTube TV?
YouTube’s February 2026 plan announcement said ESPN Unlimited was “coming this fall” to the Sports Plan. That is a rollout signal, not confirmation that every promised integration was already live on August 18, 2026. Subscribers should check the current YouTube TV product page, account options and help documentation before assuming that the benefit is active on a particular plan.
The exact eligibility rules also matter. A subscriber who changes from the main package to a genre-based plan should confirm whether ESPN Unlimited access continues, and whether the selected plan carries the specific ESPN networks or programs they watch.
Did the Disney agreement raise YouTube TV’s price?
The companies did not publicly disclose the contract’s exact length, carriage fees, revenue-sharing terms or a Disney-specific price increase. During the dispute, YouTube argued that Disney’s proposed economics could raise customer prices and reduce choice. Disney argued that YouTube TV was resisting market-based compensation for valuable sports, news and entertainment programming. Those were competing company positions, not proof of the final contract’s effect on customer bills.
The agreement itself does not establish that any later YouTube TV price change was caused by Disney. Any billing change should be evaluated against the date and terms of YouTube’s separate pricing announcement.

YouTube TV’s 2026 plan structure
YouTube introduced more than 10 genre-based plans in February 2026. The prices below are the figures listed in YouTube’s announcement and may change; promotional rates apply only for the stated introductory period.
| Plan | Listed price | Introductory offer listed by YouTube |
|---|---|---|
| Main YouTube TV plan | $82.99 per month | Not specified in the cited announcement |
| Sports Plan | $64.99 per month | $54.99 per month for the first year for new users |
| Sports + News Plan | $71.99 per month | $56.99 per month for the first three months for new users |
| Entertainment Plan | $54.99 per month | $44.99 per month for the first three months for new users |
| News + Entertainment + Family Plan | $69.99 per month | $59.99 per month for the first three months for new users |
YouTube said the Sports Plan includes major broadcasters, all ESPN networks and ESPN Unlimited “coming this fall.” But a genre plan is not automatically equivalent to the broadest YouTube TV package. Before switching, check the plan’s current channel list and enter your ZIP code to confirm local availability.
Which plan makes sense for different viewers?
Existing YouTube TV subscribers
Keeping the current service may be simplest for viewers who value YouTube TV’s interface, unlimited DVR, multiview and broad channel lineup. Before moving to a cheaper tier, confirm that it includes the local ABC station, the Disney networks you watch and the ESPN channels required for your sports viewing.
Sports-first viewers
The Sports Plan could reduce the cost of a live-TV bundle, but “sports plan” does not mean every sport, network or local station is guaranteed. Check for local broadcast affiliates, the specific ESPN networks you need, regional sports networks where relevant, and any league or regional blackouts. ESPN Unlimited access should also be evaluated against the actual competitions and feeds you watch.

Viewers who want Disney+ or Hulu
The agreement allows a Disney+, Hulu bundle to be included in select YouTube offerings. It does not give every YouTube TV subscriber Disney+ or Hulu automatically. Confirm whether the bundle is available with the specific plan and what it costs before treating it as part of the package’s value.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.YouTube TV versus Hulu + Live TV
Hulu + Live TV lists a $89.99-per-month price after any applicable trial and advertises 100-plus live channels, ABC, ESPN, Disney+ access and ESPN Select, subject to local availability, regional restrictions and blackouts. Hulu also advertises unlimited DVR.
Hulu may appeal to viewers who want its on-demand library and Disney+ bundled with live television. YouTube TV may be a better fit for viewers who prefer its interface, multiview workflow, household-account structure and current sports-focused plan options. Neither service is universally better or cheaper: the comparison depends on local stations, required networks, promotional pricing and whether the viewer values the included on-demand libraries.
Also keep the ESPN products separate. ESPN Unlimited, ESPN Select and ESPN’s direct-to-consumer offerings are not interchangeable labels. ESPN’s official direct-to-consumer materials distinguish direct subscriptions from ESPN access supplied through YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV and other bundles.

What happened to the $20 blackout credit?
YouTube said it would offer a $20 credit if Disney programming remained unavailable for an extended period. Its support information stated that customers could claim the credit while the channels were unavailable, with a documented deadline of December 9, 2025. That deadline has passed; the credit should not be presented as available in 2026.
What remains undisclosed?
- The exact duration of the agreement. “Multi-year” should not be converted into a specific number of years.
- The carriage fees, revenue-sharing terms and Disney-specific effect on YouTube TV’s costs.
- The complete ESPN Unlimited content list available through YouTube TV.
- The activation process and whether account linking is required.
- Whether every YouTube TV tier receives the same ESPN Unlimited access.
- Whether all ESPN Unlimited app features are reproduced inside YouTube TV.
- Whether changing plans affects ESPN Unlimited, Disney+ or Hulu eligibility.
Disney’s SEC filing also notes that distribution renewals can involve fewer linear networks, genre-specific bundles and direct-to-consumer access. Future negotiations can therefore still create temporary or longer-term blackouts even though this dispute has been resolved.
Practical checks before changing plans
- Enter your ZIP code on YouTube TV and confirm that your local ABC station is available.
- Compare the selected plan’s current channel list with the Disney and ESPN networks you actually watch.
- Check whether ESPN Unlimited is active for that tier and whether it requires a separate sign-in.
- Read the expiration date of any introductory price before comparing monthly costs.
- Confirm whether a Disney+, Hulu bundle is included, optional or unavailable on the plan.
- If recordings remain missing after a channel restoration, refresh the app, sign out and back in, and contact YouTube TV support if necessary.
The bottom line
For existing subscribers, the immediate answer is straightforward: ABC, ESPN and Disney’s major linear networks returned to YouTube TV on November 14, 2025. The more significant long-term change is the promised connection between YouTube TV and ESPN Unlimited, but the public announcements do not yet spell out every entitlement or feature.
Readers comparing services should judge the agreement at the plan level, not just by the headline. The Sports Plan may appeal to some sports viewers, while the main YouTube TV package may offer better coverage for households needing a broad lineup. Hulu + Live TV remains a competing option for viewers who value Hulu and Disney+ in the same bundle. In every case, local ABC availability, promotional expiration dates and the exact ESPN product included are decisive.
