First, check whether any broadcasts are still live and stop only those that should have ended. YouTube’s published limits apply to simultaneously active streams—10 per channel and 3 per stream key—not to a stated daily number of scheduled broadcasts. YouTube’s current Help guidance does not publish a fixed daily scheduling quota or a guaranteed wait time that clears this error.
Identify the exact error before changing anything
“Too many live streams are scheduled” can describe more than one problem. Note the exact wording and where it appears: YouTube Studio, or an application using the YouTube Data API. A message about creating too many streams is not automatically proof that scheduled events need to be deleted.
- In YouTube Studio: Record the message and check the Live Control Room for broadcasts that are still active.
- In an API integration: Save the HTTP status, error reason, and complete response body. The method used to create a broadcast is
liveBroadcasts.insert; the full response is more useful than the status code alone.
YouTube Help documents simultaneous active-stream limits, but the reviewed Help page does not state a fixed daily maximum for creating or scheduling broadcasts. Historical user reports are not authoritative evidence of a current quota or reset interval.
Fix it in this order

Check for broadcasts that are still active
Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and look for test streams or broadcasts that should have ended but remain live. Stop only broadcasts that are genuinely finished. YouTube says the limit is 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key, applied at the same time. If either limit has been reached, another stream cannot start.

Confirm the channel is eligible to livestream
YouTube’s current Help guidance says livestreaming requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. It also states that a person must be at least 16 to livestream. If the channel does not meet these conditions, resolve the eligibility or restriction issue rather than deleting scheduled events at random.

If you use the API, check authorization separately
Make sure the authenticated account is connected to the intended channel and that the request is authorized for that channel. A
403 insufficientLivePermissionsresponse is an authorization error; by itself, it does not establish that a daily creation cap caused the failure. Compare the full API response with the exact wording shown in Studio.Rank #2

If the checks do not explain the message, preserve the evidence
Avoid repeated rapid create attempts. The available official guidance does not establish a specific retry interval or a wait of a particular number of hours. Keep the exact error text—or, for an API call, the status, reason, and full response—and contact YouTube support if the issue persists.
Scheduled broadcasts and active streams are different
A scheduled broadcast is an event set up for a future time; an active stream is one that is currently running. The documented limits—10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key—describe simultaneous streams. They should not be presented as a limit on how many future broadcasts can be scheduled.

The distinction matters when choosing a fix: stop a stream that is actually still active, but do not assume that deleting future events will resolve an error whose cause has not been identified. The reviewed official Help material does not specify a daily scheduling quota or a reset window.
