YouTube restored Guy Beahm’s access to the YouTube Partner Program in late January 2025 after reviewing his channel’s recent activity. The same day, the game studio he co-founded, Midnight Society, announced it was closing. The announcements coincided; the available reporting does not establish that one caused the other.
Why YouTube restored Dr Disrespect’s monetization
YouTube said Beahm’s channel had previously been suspended from the Partner Program for violations of its Creator Responsibility policies. A spokesperson said creators whose access is suspended can reapply, and that YouTube reinstated Beahm’s channel after a “careful review” of its recent activity. The company also warned that it could take appropriate action if further violations occurred. PC Gamer reported YouTube’s statement, as did the San Francisco Chronicle.
YouTube did not publicly explain the details of its review or specify what recent activity led to reinstatement. The statement therefore gives the platform’s stated process, not a full account of its decision-making.
What YouTube’s policies say
YouTube’s Partner Program policies require creators to follow platform rules, including Creator Responsibility and advertiser-friendly guidelines. YouTube describes Creator Responsibility as addressing egregious behavior with a large negative impact on the community, and says violations can result in monetization being turned off. The policies apply across formats, including live streams and Shorts. These general rules do not disclose the criteria YouTube applied in Beahm’s individual review.

What happened to Midnight Society and Deadrop
Midnight Society announced on Jan. 30, 2025, that it was closing. The studio, co-founded in 2021 by Beahm, former Call of Duty creative strategist Robert Bowling, and Halo 5 designer Quinn Delhoyo, had been developing Deadrop, an extraction shooter. The game was not released.
In its closure announcement, the studio said that more than 55 developers had contributed to Deadrop and that it was seeking employment opportunities for team members. That headcount is the studio’s own figure, reported by PC Gamer; it is not an independently audited workforce total.

Timeline: the suspension, separation and closure
- June 2024: YouTube suspended Beahm from the Partner Program. A YouTube spokesperson said the action followed serious allegations against the creator. GameSpot reported that Beahm acknowledged sending messages to a minor through Twitch’s Whispers feature in 2017. He described the exchanges as casual conversations that sometimes became inappropriate and denied illegal conduct; those descriptions and denials were his claims.
- June 2024: Midnight Society parted ways with Beahm, according to PC Gamer.
- October 2024: PC Gamer reported that Beahm’s first application to regain YouTube monetization had been refused.
- Jan. 30, 2025: Midnight Society announced it was closing.
- Jan. 30–31, 2025: Beahm announced during a livestream, “Ladies and gentlemen, we got our f—ing YouTube monetization back!” YouTube confirmed the reinstatement in a statement reported by PC Gamer and the San Francisco Chronicle.
Did the studio’s closure cause YouTube’s decision?
No causal link is established in the available reports. The closure announcement and the restoration of monetization happened at roughly the same time, but YouTube attributed its decision to a review of Beahm’s recent channel activity. The studio had also parted ways with him months earlier. The timing alone does not show that either event prompted the other, or explain why Midnight Society closed.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Dr Disrespect still monetized on YouTube?
The January 2025 reports confirm that YouTube restored his Partner Program access at that time. They do not establish whether his channel remains monetized on Oct. 8, 2026, or document later developments involving Beahm, Midnight Society or Deadrop. The reinstatement should be understood as a historical status, not confirmation of his channel’s current status.
