If YouTube Recap 2025 is not showing up, check the signed-in account, retained watch history from January through late October 2025, age and supervision status, Brand Account status, location, and YouTube app version. If every official requirement is satisfied, YouTube documents no guaranteed way to force or recover an unavailable Recap.
Regular YouTube Recap is a personalized summary of eligible viewing activity across YouTube. The summary can include interests, creators, channels, music, moments, viewing-habit changes, and a possible personality type. YouTube announced the first YouTube Recap on December 2, 2025, so 2025 is the first year covered by this feature.
Key takeaways
- YouTube Recap 2025 depends on retained, eligible watch history from January through late October 2025; paused or automatically deleted history does not count.
- The normal access points are the You tab in the signed-in YouTube mobile app and youtube.com/recap on a computer.
- YouTube lists Android app version 20.45 or newer and iPhone app version 20.40 or newer for the mobile experience.
- Supervised accounts, viewers below the applicable minimum age, and Brand Account delegate users are not eligible for the regular YouTube Recap.
- Regular YouTube Recap and YouTube Music Recap are separate features, so music listening history may appear in the YouTube Music app instead.
- YouTube does not document a guaranteed manual method, device upgrade, cache trick, or subscription that can create an unavailable Recap.
Why is my YouTube Recap 2025 not showing up?
YouTube Recap 2025 may be missing because the wrong account is signed in, the account lacks enough retained eligible watch history, the profile is supervised or otherwise ineligible, the location is unsupported, the app is too old, or the Recap has expired or been deleted. If every official check passes, YouTube does not document a reliable way to force-generate the feature.
YouTube describes Recap as a personalized end-of-year summary generated from a viewer’s watch history across YouTube. The summary can include interests, creators, music, moments, top channels, changes in viewing habits, and a possible personality type. YouTube Product Manager Manthra Panchapakesan announced the feature on December 2, 2025, writing: “So, because many of you asked for it, we’re thrilled to announce the first ever YouTube Recap.” Read the official YouTube Recap announcement for the launch details.

Where should YouTube Recap 2025 appear?
The first step is to check the official entry points rather than searching through unrelated YouTube settings.
- On a phone or tablet: open the YouTube app while signed in, tap the You tab, and look for the Your YouTube Recap is here! banner.
- On a computer: open YouTube while signed in and visit youtube.com/recap.
- On mobile: check that the YouTube Android app is version 20.45 or newer, or that the YouTube iPhone app is version 20.40 or newer.
A missing banner does not by itself prove that the account is permanently ineligible. The banner can be absent because the account, app version, region, watch-history settings, or feature-retention status does not meet YouTube’s conditions.
What eligibility checks can explain a missing Recap?
YouTube’s eligibility conditions are more specific than simply having used YouTube during 2025. Check each condition against the account that contains the relevant viewing history.
Was enough eligible watch history retained?
YouTube says viewers need enough eligible watch history from January through late October 2025. Watch history that was paused does not count, and activity removed through automatic deletion does not count. Turning watch history on now cannot recreate viewing activity that YouTube did not retain during the eligibility period.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteA viewer can therefore have watched many videos in 2025 and still lack a Recap if watch history was paused for part of the qualifying period or if older activity was automatically deleted. The regular Recap includes eligible long-form videos and Shorts watched while signed in across mobile, computer, and TV, as well as downloaded videos. YouTube TV content and Primetime Channels are excluded from this regular Recap. The YouTube Help eligibility guidance explains these history and content limitations.
Is the account old enough and unsupervised?
The viewer must meet YouTube’s minimum age of 13, or the applicable minimum age in the viewer’s country. Supervised accounts are not eligible. A child or supervised profile can have an active YouTube history and still be excluded from Recap.

Is the correct Google account signed in?
The viewer must be signed in, and the signed-in profile must be the profile that accumulated the 2025 watch history. Tap the profile avatar and check the account name before treating the missing Recap as an eligibility failure.
Is the account arrangement supported?
YouTube says delegate users on a Brand Account are not eligible. A person can therefore be using YouTube normally through a Brand Account arrangement while still lacking access to the regular Recap. Check whether the active profile is the primary eligible account or a delegate user.

Is the feature available in the viewer’s location and language?
YouTube says Recap is available in over 185 countries and 17 languages. That is broad availability, not a guarantee that every account in every location receives the feature. A regional or language limitation can explain why one viewer sees Recap while another viewer does not. YouTube’s official availability and eligibility information should take priority over reports from other users.
Could an old YouTube app be hiding the Recap?
An outdated mobile app is worth correcting, but updating the app is not a universal fix. YouTube specifies Android version 20.45 or newer and iPhone version 20.40 or newer for the mobile experience. After the app meets that requirement, account eligibility, retained history, location, and YouTube’s availability conditions still determine whether the Recap appears.
Update the app through the relevant app store, reopen YouTube, confirm the correct account, and check the You tab again. On a computer, use the signed-in browser route at youtube.com/recap.

Is regular YouTube Recap the same as YouTube Music Recap?
No. Regular YouTube Recap and YouTube Music Recap are separate experiences. Regular YouTube Recap summarizes eligible activity across YouTube, while YouTube Music Recap is the separate summary for music listeners inside the YouTube Music app.
| Feature | Where to look | What it summarizes |
|---|---|---|
| Regular YouTube Recap | YouTube app’s You tab or signed-in youtube.com/recap | Eligible YouTube viewing, including supported long-form videos, Shorts, creators, interests, channels, and viewing habits |
| YouTube Music Recap | YouTube Music app | Music listening activity |
If the question is really “Where is my music summary?”, open YouTube Music rather than using the regular YouTube Recap route. Finding a Music Recap does not necessarily mean that the account qualifies for the separate regular YouTube Recap.
What should I do if my YouTube Recap disappeared?
If a YouTube Recap was deleted, YouTube says it cannot be viewed again. YouTube also says Recaps are automatically deleted for everyone after the end of the year. A 2025 Recap may therefore no longer be retrievable if the annual retention window has ended.
YouTube also says a Recap cannot be refreshed or edited. Reinstalling the app or changing the device cannot restore a Recap that was deleted or automatically removed, because the problem is the feature’s account and retention status rather than the phone or computer displaying it.
| Situation | What to check | Likely result |
|---|---|---|
| No banner, but the qualifying period has not clearly failed | Correct account, You tab, desktop recap page, app version, region, age, supervision, and Brand Account status | The account may still be missing an entry point or may fail one of the official eligibility checks |
| Watch history was paused during January through late October 2025 | Google activity and YouTube watch-history settings | Previously unretained activity cannot be recreated by enabling history now |
| History was removed by automatic deletion | Automatic-deletion settings and the retained activity period | Deleted activity does not count toward the Recap |
| Recap was manually deleted | No device setting can restore it | YouTube says a deleted Recap cannot be viewed again |
| The annual retention period has ended | Whether the Recap is being requested after the end of its year | YouTube says Recaps are automatically deleted after the end of the year |
| The viewer is looking for listening statistics | YouTube Music app | The separate YouTube Music Recap may be the correct feature |

- Confirm the account. Check the profile avatar and make sure the signed-in account contains the 2025 viewing history.
- Check both official access points. Open the YouTube app’s You tab and, on a computer, visit youtube.com/recap.
- Update the mobile app. Use Android version 20.45 or newer or iPhone version 20.40 or newer.
- Review watch-history retention. Determine whether history was paused during January through late October 2025 or whether automatic deletion removed qualifying activity.
- Check age and supervision. Confirm that the profile meets the applicable minimum age and is not a supervised account.
- Check the account type. Confirm that the profile is not an ineligible Brand Account delegate user.
- Check availability. Consider whether the viewer’s country and language are supported; YouTube reports availability in over 185 countries and 17 languages.
- Use the correct Recap. Open YouTube Music if the intended summary concerns music listening rather than general YouTube viewing.
- Check for deletion or expiration. If the Recap was deleted or the annual retention period has ended, do not expect a documented recovery method.
Can clearing the cache or buying a new device force YouTube Recap to appear?
No documented YouTube method guarantees that clearing a cache, reinstalling the app, buying a new phone, upgrading a computer, changing a cable, subscribing to YouTube Premium, or using PC-cleaning software will create access to an unavailable Recap. Those actions may change the app environment, but they do not create missing watch history or alter YouTube’s account eligibility rules.
Community reports can help identify patterns, but they are not a reliable eligibility authority. YouTube warns that Help Community content may not be verified or current. Treat reports of delayed access as anecdotal rather than as proof that a particular workaround will work for every account.
Does YouTube Premium unlock YouTube Recap 2025?
YouTube’s documented Recap requirements concern account status, eligible retained history, age, supervision, Brand Account arrangement, location, language, app version, and feature availability. The official guidance supplied for YouTube Recap does not identify YouTube Premium as a requirement or a guaranteed remedy for a missing Recap.
When is there no reliable fix?
There is no reliable user-side fix when the account lacks enough retained qualifying history, belongs to an ineligible supervised or Brand Account delegate profile, is outside the supported availability conditions, or has a Recap that was deleted or automatically removed after the end of the year. In those cases, repeatedly clearing cache, reinstalling YouTube, or changing hardware cannot supply the missing eligibility data.
If all official checks appear to pass but the Recap remains absent, the accurate answer is uncertainty: YouTube does not document a guaranteed manual force or recovery procedure. Keep the account and app correctly configured, check the official access points, and avoid paying for hardware or cleaning software on the assumption that those purchases will generate the summary.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my YouTube Recap 2025 not showing up?
YouTube Recap 2025 may not show because the signed-in account lacks enough retained eligible watch history, watch history was paused or automatically deleted, the profile is supervised or a Brand Account delegate, the location is unsupported, the app is outdated, or the Recap was deleted or has expired. Check the You tab, youtube.com/recap, the account, app version, history settings, and eligibility conditions.
How do I find my YouTube Recap 2025?
Find regular YouTube Recap 2025 in the signed-in YouTube mobile app by tapping the You tab and looking for the “Your YouTube Recap is here!” banner. On a computer, use YouTube while signed in and visit youtube.com/recap.
Can I force YouTube Recap to appear?
No. YouTube does not document a guaranteed manual method to force an otherwise unavailable Recap. Clearing cache, reinstalling YouTube, buying a new device, subscribing to YouTube Premium, or using PC-cleaning software does not create missing watch history or change documented account eligibility.
Is YouTube Recap the same as YouTube Music Recap?
No. Regular YouTube Recap and YouTube Music Recap are separate features. Regular Recap appears in YouTube, while the music-focused Recap appears in the YouTube Music app.
My YouTube Recap disappeared—can I get it back?
YouTube says a deleted Recap cannot be viewed again and that Recaps are automatically deleted for everyone after the end of the year. If a 2025 Recap was deleted or its retention period has ended, YouTube does not document a recovery method.
The Bottom Line
If YouTube Recap 2025 is not showing up, verify the signed-in account, retained January–late October 2025 watch history, age and supervision status, Brand Account arrangement, location, language, and app version. If the Recap was deleted or has expired, or if all official checks pass without access, YouTube provides no documented guaranteed way to force or recover it.
