YouTube says it makes claims on live streams after they end, if you choose to archive the video. Once the archive is available, check YouTube Studio > Content > Claims, then open the video’s claim details under Restrictions. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance explains when the archived-stream claim is made.
Find a Content ID claim on a live-stream archive
On a computer, use this path in YouTube Studio:
- Wait for the live stream to end and confirm that YouTube created an archive. The post-stream claim workflow applies to the archived video; without an archive, there is no archived video to inspect this way.
- In YouTube Studio, select Content.
- Use the filter bar and select Claims.
- Find the livestream archive. In the Restrictions column, hover over Claims and choose See details.
- To identify the claimant, open Content used in the claim details and choose See details.
YouTube also says it emails creators when a video receives a claim. These desktop steps and claim-detail labels are described in YouTube’s computer instructions for copyright claims.
In the YouTube Studio Android app
Open Content, select the video with the copyright restriction, then go to Restrictions > Review issues and select the claim. App screens can vary by version; the desktop path above is the clearest route in YouTube’s cited instructions.
Why the claim may not be showing yet
The stream is still live
An archived-stream Content ID claim is not the same as a live warning or interruption. YouTube says it makes claims on archived live streams after the stream ends, if the creator chooses to archive the video. Live scanning can instead warn you, replace the stream with a placeholder image, or interrupt or terminate it. A live interruption does not by itself establish that a claim exists on an archive. See YouTube’s explanation of copyright issues with live streams.

The stream ended, but no archive exists
Check whether the video appears in Studio. YouTube’s post-stream claim guidance is conditional on the video being archived; if there is no archive, there is no archived video in which to look for that claim.
The archive exists, but no claim is listed
Recheck the video’s Restrictions and Claims status, and check the email account associated with the channel. YouTube’s cited guidance does not specify a fixed processing delay or a separate missing-claim queue for ordinary creators, so there is no guaranteed wait time to rely on. If the Studio status conflicts with a notice you received, use Creator Support if it is available to you.

Archived claims and live Content ID matching are different
| What differs | Archived-stream Content ID claim | Real-time live Content ID matching |
|---|---|---|
| When it happens | After a live stream ends, if the creator archives the video. | While a stream is live. |
| Who uses it | Creators checking a claim on their archived video. | Eligible YouTube Studio Content Manager partners matching copies of their live streams. |
| What happens | A claim is attached to the archived video and may block, monetize, or track it. | YouTube says, “No claims are created.” The system can warn the streamer and may replace or terminate the stream; track policies do not work in this process. |
| Where to check | Studio Content, then the archive’s Restrictions and Claims details. | Live-stream setup and any warnings shown while live. |
The live matching feature is for eligible partners with Content Manager access, not a general way for ordinary creators to locate an archive claim. Details are in YouTube’s live Content ID matching documentation.
Check what the restriction means before taking action
A Content ID claim applies a rights holder’s policy. Depending on the claim, the video may be blocked, monetized, or tracked; effects can differ by country or region. A claim is not the same as a copyright takedown request or a copyright strike. YouTube says claims usually do not affect a channel or account, although a strike on an active or archived livestream may disable live-streaming access. See YouTube’s explanation of claims and restrictions and its live-stream guidance.

Before disputing a claim, open its details and check the claimant, the content identified, and the restriction. An unfamiliar claimant name alone does not prove that a claim is invalid.
If a claim is present: options and editing risks
YouTube lists several edits that can clear a claim when they succeed: trimming the claimed segment, replacing claimed audio with music from the Audio Library, or erasing the claimed audio. The available option depends on what was claimed, and no edit is guaranteed to clear every claim. Review the proposed change before saving. Since June 2025, saved changes made in Studio Editor can no longer be undone with Revert to original, according to YouTube’s instructions for removing copyright-claimed content.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep prerecorded video running as a YouTube livestream, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service; it does not find, prevent, or resolve Content ID claims. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and offers the first day free with no card.
