Recommended Free Tools
For an Intel Arc playlist stream in OBS, match the encoder to YouTube’s ingest recommendations: use CBR, set keyframes every 2 seconds, and choose the bitrate for your resolution, frame rate, and codec. For 1080p60, YouTube recommends 12 Mbps with AV1 or H.265/HEVC, or 17 Mbps with H.264. OBS release notes document Arc AV1 support on Windows, but settings and compatibility can depend on your OBS version, operating system, driver, and Arc model—test a representative stream and check YouTube’s stream health before relying on it.
Recommended OBS settings for YouTube Live
Use the codec you can select in your installed OBS setup, then follow YouTube’s current ingest guidance for the target resolution and frame rate. YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest and recommends RTMPS. Its recommendations are platform settings, not a performance guarantee for a particular Arc card or playlist workflow. YouTube’s live encoder settings do not specify how to configure or loop a particular playlist source.
| Setting | YouTube guidance |
|---|---|
| Ingest protocol | RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS. |
| Video codec | H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1. |
| Rate control | CBR. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds. |
| Frame rate | Up to 60 fps. |
| Audio codec | AAC or MP3 over RTMP/RTMPS. 5.1 audio is supported only with AAC. |
| Audio bitrate | 128 Kbps for stereo; 384 Kbps for 5.1. |
| Audio sample rate | 44.1 kHz for stereo; 48 kHz for 5.1. |
| SDR color | Rec. 709. |
Video bitrate for 1080p
Use the row matching your actual frame rate and selected codec. These are YouTube’s ingest recommendations, not a bitrate measurement of Intel Arc encoding quality.
| Resolution and frame rate | AV1 or H.265/HEVC | H.264 |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p30 | Minimum 4 Mbps; recommended 10 Mbps | Minimum 5 Mbps; recommended 14 Mbps |
| 1080p60 | Minimum 4 Mbps; recommended 12 Mbps | Minimum 6 Mbps; recommended 17 Mbps |
For resolutions other than these 1080p examples, consult YouTube’s encoder settings table and select the entry for your resolution, frame rate, and codec rather than extrapolating a number. YouTube advises matching stream quality to the available connection and testing with motion and audio like the real program.

Choosing AV1, HEVC, or H.264 on Intel Arc
AV1
OBS Studio 29.0 release notes document Intel AV1 encoder support for Arc GPUs on Windows. OBS 29.1 added AV1 and HEVC streaming over Enhanced RTMP; its release notes described YouTube support as a beta feature at that time. Those release-specific notes establish compatibility in the named context, not a guarantee for every current operating system, OBS build, driver, or Arc model. Check the encoder options and current YouTube ingest support in your own setup. OBS Studio 29.0 release notes; OBS Studio 29.1 release notes.
H.265/HEVC and H.264
YouTube lists both HEVC and H.264 for RTMP/RTMPS ingest. If AV1 is unavailable or does not behave correctly in your installed setup, choose another codec YouTube supports and use its corresponding bitrate recommendation. OBS describes hardware encoding as shifting encoding work to a specialized GPU component; image quality varies by encoder generation. Its overview of Quick Sync support is not proof that Arc AV1 streaming works on every platform. OBS hardware encoding overview.

- Confirm the encoder is available. In OBS, open Settings → Output, select Advanced output mode if needed, and inspect the streaming encoder choices. Choose the Intel Arc AV1 option only if it appears and your intended YouTube ingest setup supports it; otherwise select a supported alternative such as H.264 or HEVC.
- Set rate control to CBR. In the streaming encoder’s options, choose CBR and enter the YouTube-recommended video bitrate for your resolution, frame rate, and codec. For 1080p60, that is 12 Mbps for AV1/HEVC or 17 Mbps for H.264.
- Set keyframes to 2 seconds. Enter a 2-second keyframe interval. Do not set it above 4 seconds.
- Configure audio and color. Use AAC or MP3 for RTMP/RTMPS audio; YouTube’s listed recommendations are 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz for stereo, or 384 Kbps and 48 kHz for 5.1 AAC. For SDR, use Rec. 709.
- Connect OBS to the intended YouTube live event. In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream, copy its stream key, and enter it in OBS under Settings → Stream using the YouTube service option or the ingest details YouTube provides. Treat the key as a password: do not publish it or include it in a screenshot. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio.
- Run a private test before the real broadcast. Use representative playlist footage, including its typical movement and audio. Start the stream in a test event or an appropriate private/unlisted setup, then check YouTube Studio’s stream health and messages while OBS is sending.
- Confirm the playlist behavior separately. Check that the chosen OBS source or playlist workflow advances and repeats as intended. The encoder settings alone do not configure looping, and exact playlist-source steps depend on the workflow and software in use.
Test the connection and monitor stream health
A bitrate that matches YouTube’s table still depends on a stable upload connection. YouTube recommends testing before going live, using content with similar audio and motion and monitoring stream health and messages during the event. Its guidance puts it plainly: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”
- Test the complete path—from the playlist source and audio through OBS and YouTube ingest—not just whether the encoder starts.
- Watch for unstable connection or bitrate warnings in YouTube Studio. If the stream is unhealthy, verify the selected codec, CBR mode, bitrate, keyframe interval, and connection before changing several variables at once.
- Check OBS’s actual encoder output as well as YouTube’s report. A configured bitrate is not evidence that the encoder is delivering that rate.
- Repeat the test after changing an OBS version, driver, encoder, resolution, or frame rate.
Troubleshooting an Intel Arc playlist stream
AV1 bitrate is unexpectedly low
Intel’s support article, last reviewed March 19, 2025, describes an unusually low AV1 streaming bitrate issue in OBS for Arc A380, A370M, and A350M and says Intel is aware of it. This report is limited to those listed models and may change as software and drivers change; it should not be generalized to every Arc GPU. Check OBS’s selected encoder and actual output, compare with YouTube’s stream-health messages, and test another supported codec if the AV1 stream remains far below its configured target. AV1 or HEVC is missing from OBS
Verify your OBS version, operating system, driver, and GPU model, then check the current OBS and YouTube support information. The OBS release notes describe Arc AV1 support on Windows in OBS 29.0 and Enhanced RTMP AV1/HEVC streaming in OBS 29.1; these historic release notes do not establish availability in every installation today. Select a codec that both your encoder setup and YouTube ingest support.
YouTube reports a poor or unstable stream
Check that OBS is actually using CBR, that the bitrate matches YouTube’s entry for the chosen codec and output mode, and that keyframes are two seconds apart. Test whether the problem persists at a lower supported output setting, then recheck stream health. Keep the test representative: a static image can conceal problems that appear with motion or full audio.

The video plays but the playlist does not advance or repeat
This is a playlist-source or workflow issue, not an encoder bitrate setting. Inspect the source’s playlist and repeat behavior in the software or plugin you chose; exact controls depend on that implementation. Confirm transitions and audio at the loop point in a test stream before using it for a long broadcast.
YouTube Live rules for playlist content
Encoder compatibility does not grant rights to the videos, music, or other material in a playlist. Before streaming, confirm you have permission to use all included content and review YouTube’s applicable copyright rules. A playlist of prerecorded material also needs to meet YouTube’s live-stream requirements; technical ingest settings cannot guarantee that a channel or stream complies with platform policies.
Use the copyright safety checklist to review content rights before scheduling a stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube playlist stream rather than operating OBS on an Intel Arc PC, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It does not stream from a camera.
