A scheduled-stream trailer appears before an event starts; it does not insert your sale video into a stream that is already running. For an in-program promo, add the clip to the encoder or playout system’s outgoing feed, then test the transition.
Choose where the promo should appear

YouTube’s scheduling guidance documents how to create an event and connect an encoder; it does not document a native control for scheduling your own prerecorded promo into the middle of an existing always-on stream. The precise insertion steps therefore depend on your encoder or playout system.
Schedule the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live, then choose Manage and Schedule Stream. Reuse prior settings or create a new stream.
- Set the event title, description, visibility, thumbnail, date and time. Share the scheduled watch page so viewers can visit it and, where available, set reminders.
- Open the scheduled event in Live Control Room and copy its stream URL and stream key into your encoder. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. Treat the key like a password; anyone who has it may be able to send video to your channel.
- Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview to confirm the scheduled event is receiving the intended feed.
These are YouTube’s general Studio and encoder steps; the cited guidance does not establish a separate India-only scheduling procedure. Test the connection at the location where you will operate the stream.
Set a trailer for the watch page (optional)
A trailer is for the time before the scheduled live event begins, not for a midstream break in a continuous program. YouTube Help states that trailers must be 15 seconds to 3 minutes long and that this feature is available to channels with more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Check the current Studio controls and eligibility before relying on it.

Upload the promo as a normal channel video, then select it as the scheduled stream’s trailer in the stream settings if the option is available. Use creative you have the rights to show and make sure its message, offer dates and destination are accurate.
Insert a promo into the running program
- Prepare the sale video as an outgoing source in your encoder or playout system. The method may involve a playlist, scene, source switch or other control; it depends on the system you use.
- Configure a clear return to the normal program after the promo. Check that switching sources will not stop the encoder from sending the scheduled event’s feed.
- Test the whole sequence before the sale: normal program, promo start, promo playback, promo end, and return to the normal program.
- In the test, verify picture, aspect ratio, audio levels and timing in the encoder output and the YouTube Live Control Room preview. Confirm the scheduled watch page is receiving the right feed.
- During the event, monitor the stream and its health messages. YouTube recommends operational checks; it does not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation.
If you need multiple sale messages, plan their order and transitions in the playout system. YouTube’s cited scheduling instructions do not prescribe a particular midstream playlist scheduler.

Preflight and archive planning
- YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least 2 hours before the stream and starting it at least 15 minutes before the event.
- Use the Live Control Room preview to check that the encoder is connected and the correct picture and sound are reaching YouTube. Continue monitoring stream health and audio/video quality during operation.
- YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For a longer continuous broadcast, make a separate recording and archive plan rather than assuming the entire stream will be saved automatically.
Keep the sale creative and monetization distinct
A creator’s own promo is part of the encoder-fed program. YouTube mid-rolls are platform ads for eligible monetized streams, with controls documented in Live Control Room and an option using YouTube’s Stream Deck plugin. A Stream Deck is not required to schedule an event or insert your own video.
Use music, footage, logos and offer claims you are authorized to broadcast. Scheduling a clip does not establish that you have rights to its contents or that a live stream will meet YouTube’s policies. Review YouTube’s current rules for your channel and material before going live.
