Use Control Room to set up and manage the YouTube broadcast; use StreamYard’s documented feature when you want a finite prerecorded video to start on a schedule. Neither source establishes a continuously repeating 24/7 playlist using those features alone.
How to use YouTube Live Control Room with an encoder
YouTube’s documented encoder workflow makes the creator responsible for supplying the ongoing video feed. An encoder converts the video into a digital format for YouTube; if the feed stops, the documented setup is no longer sending content. The following is the local-encoder workflow YouTube describes, not a promise that Control Room will loop a video or restore a disconnected encoder automatically.
- Create or schedule the stream: In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a live stream. If you want it to begin at a chosen time, schedule it through the Manage area.
- Connect the encoder: Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream into your encoder. Treat the key as private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to that stream.
- Start sending the video: Start the encoder and confirm that YouTube receives its feed and shows a preview in Control Room.
- Go live: Once the preview is available, click Go live in Control Room.
- End the broadcast cleanly: End the stream in Control Room and stop sending content from the encoder.
YouTube’s encoder help describes this sequence, but it does not specify a universal resolution, bitrate, keyframe interval, or computer requirement for every encoder and connection. Follow the settings recommended by the encoder and YouTube’s current stream setup guidance for your chosen format; do not treat a particular setting as a guarantee of uninterrupted streaming.

What StreamYard’s prerecorded feature can—and cannot—do
StreamYard’s help page describes a scheduled prerecorded broadcast as an automatic start at the selected time followed by an automatic end when the video is finished. Its published per-video maximums are plan-dependent, with a maximum of 8 hours on Team and Business. Those are finite broadcasts, not evidence of a 24-hour loop. If your documentary is longer than the limit for your plan, this feature is not a fit for airing that entire video as one scheduled prerecorded broadcast.
The same help page lists simultaneous scheduled-stream allowances of up to five on Core, up to ten on Advanced, and unlimited on Team and Business, and scheduling as far as 365 days ahead. These plan restrictions can change, so confirm the current StreamYard help page and plan details before relying on a limit. Scheduled prerecorded broadcasts are no longer automatically saved to StreamYard’s library, according to that page; distinguish that library behavior from any recording or archive retained at the destination.

Ways to keep a YouTube prerecorded stream running

Plan archives, interruptions, and rights before going live
Do not rely on YouTube to archive a 24/7 session
YouTube says a stream shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” A single uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed complete replay. If preserving the full program matters, keep a separate recording or backup, and plan how to split or transition broadcasts if you need an archive. YouTube’s archive guidance recommends recording a local archive as a backup.

Prepare for a dropped feed
A local encoder workflow depends on the encoder continuing to send content. Decide who will notice a disconnect, how the source will be restarted, and how you will check that Control Room again shows a preview. The cited YouTube and StreamYard material does not establish guaranteed uptime or automatic recovery for either named workflow. If choosing any cloud provider for a continuous stream, verify its current loop, recovery, and destination support directly.
Confirm rights for every item in the playlist
Prerecorded content broadcast as live still requires the necessary rights. YouTube’s live-stream terms say the provider represents and warrants that it has the rights needed for the live content, including applicable music licensing rights, and that live content must follow Community Guidelines. Review rights for footage, music, narration, and other included material before adding it to a playlist; a live label does not make content you lack permission to use permissible.
