If your YouTube live broadcast ends exactly when the prerecorded playlist finishes, check the repeat setting in the software feeding the stream—not YouTube’s playlist Loop button. That button controls playback for an individual viewer. First determine whether the broadcast itself ended or only a viewer’s playlist stopped.
First identify what stopped
Open the live watch page and check its status. If YouTube says the stream ended, the incoming broadcast feed may have stopped. If the broadcast is still live but playback ended for you, check the viewer’s playlist controls instead. This distinction matters because YouTube treats ordinary playlist playback and an encoder-fed live broadcast as separate workflows.
- Only your playlist playback ended: check YouTube’s playlist-level Loop control.
- The live broadcast ended at the media boundary: check the source playlist’s repeat behavior and whether the encoder continues sending content.
- The stream dropped unexpectedly: inspect encoder connection and stream health after checking the source queue.
This is a diagnostic distinction based on YouTube’s separate instructions for playlist playback and encoder streaming; it does not by itself identify a specific software fault.
If you are watching a regular YouTube playlist
YouTube documents different playlist repeat controls by device. Interface placement can change between app versions, so look for the playlist’s repeat control if the labels or layout differ.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Desktop
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel.
- Click Loop to repeat the playlist.
Android
- Start any video in the playlist.
- Tap Loop in the playlist control box below the video.
- Check the icon state: a second tap switches to repeating only the current video, shown with a “1” in the loop icon. To repeat the full list, leave the control set to playlist repeat.
TV or game console
- While the playlist is playing, press down on the remote or controller.
- Select Repeat until the label reads Repeat • Playlist.
These controls affect the viewer’s playlist playback. Turning them on does not make a creator’s encoder restart its source media when that media reaches the end. YouTube’s playlist instructions describe the documented playback controls.
If your live broadcast ends when prerecorded media finishes
An encoder sends a feed to YouTube using a stream URL and stream key. YouTube says to end an encoder stream by stopping the content sent from that encoder. If the live page ends at the exact point the source playlist reaches its final item, inspect the source or encoder software’s repeat behavior and queue settings first.

- Check the source queue. Confirm the media is set to repeat and that the playlist or queue is not configured to stop after its last item. The exact setting depends on the playback or encoder software; YouTube does not provide one universal loop switch for every encoder.
- Check the incoming feed. Open YouTube Live Control Room and verify that the encoder is still sending content. YouTube’s encoder guidance states, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.”
- Separate a source boundary from a connection failure. If the stream stops at the same point the playlist ends, the queue or repeat behavior is a likely first place to investigate. If it drops at varying times, check feed health and network conditions as well.
YouTube identifies mobile, webcam, and encoder methods for going live; encoder streaming is intended for more advanced production. Its live streaming help also lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for streaming prerecorded videos continuously. That listing establishes its category and use case, not its current pricing or comparative performance.
Check connection health if the feed drops unexpectedly
Looping fixes a source playlist that stops at its end; it does not repair an unstable upload connection. If the encoder loses its feed before the playlist finishes:

- Monitor audio and video in Live Control Room for interruptions or health warnings.
- Check that the encoder is still sending data and that the local archive file, if recording one, continues to grow.
- Compare available upload bandwidth with the stream’s total bitrate. YouTube recommends 20% headroom above that bitrate for streaming.
These checks are for unexpected feed drops, not a substitute for enabling repeat on the source media.
Protect recordings of a continuous stream
Do not rely on YouTube’s automatic archive as the only copy of a 24/7 broadcast. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a local archive backup if you need a dependable recording of the broadcast.
