Strowman was the established obstacle—the type of opponent who can make a rising powerhouse look dangerous without needing to lose cleanly in a conventional singles match.
The stipulation also made either result workable from a booking perspective. A wrestler can lose a Last Man Standing Match after a prolonged fight without being decisively pinned or submitted. Even so, Fatu was the more logical choice to move into Knight’s United States Championship program. WWE’s official results later confirmed that prediction.

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin faced Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa for a championship opportunity against WWE Tag Team Champions Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins of The Street Profits. She was being presented as an increasingly dangerous antagonist, while B-Fab’s role was to provide resistance and help keep the angle moving toward WrestleMania. A Naomi victory preserved her momentum and kept Cargill’s pursuit of the feud’s next confrontation central.

The most direct championship consequence came from Fatu vs. Strowman. Fatu’s victory made him LA Knight’s United States Championship challenger at WrestleMania.
