John Cena, Shawn Michaels and the Honky Tonk Man are among the wrestlers credited with performing their own entrance songs. But a theme’s association with a wrestler does not mean that wrestler sang it: Randy Orton’s “Voices,” for example, features Rev Theory singer Rich Luzzi, while Fandango’s famous sing-along theme was composed by Jim Johnston. The playful idea that some wrestlers “couldn’t sing at all” is not supported by these credits; the useful distinction is who recorded the vocals.
Wrestlers who recorded their own entrance themes
WWE’s account of its greatest entrance themes identifies several songs performed by the wrestlers they accompanied. These are documented performance credits, not a ranking of vocal talent.
John Cena — “Basic Thuganomics”
Cena recorded the vocals for “Basic Thuganomics.” WWE describes him laying down the vocals to his own entrance music and says the song became a persona-defining war cry. It is a particularly direct match between performer and character: Cena’s voice is part of what made the theme feel like his own. WWE’s entrance-theme overview credits the performance.
Shawn Michaels — “Sexy Boy”
Michaels got behind the microphone to record “Sexy Boy,” according to WWE. The source establishes his vocal contribution without specifying which other singers may appear on particular versions, so the credit should not be expanded beyond that. WWE’s overview discusses the song.

Honky Tonk Man — “Cool, Cocky, Bad”
WWE explicitly credits the Honky Tonk Man as the performer of “Cool, Cocky, Bad,” a rockabilly-flavored song tied to his character. It is another case where the wrestler is credited as the performer, rather than merely being the person who enters to the track. WWE’s overview identifies the performance.
Famous themes sung by someone else
Entrance music is often a collaboration among composers, in-house music staff, wrestlers, bands and outside performers. A theme can become inseparable from a wrestler without that wrestler recording its vocals.

Randy Orton — “Voices”
“Voices” is Orton’s entrance theme, but its vocalist is Rich Luzzi, the frontman of Rev Theory. WWE’s release page for Voices: WWE The Music, Vol. 9 credits Luzzi as the guest vocalist on the track. The WWE release page provides the track credit.
Fandango — “ChaChaLaLa”
Fandango’s theme became memorable partly because audiences sang along, but that crowd response is not evidence that Fandango recorded the song. WWE’s interview identifies longtime composer and music director Jim Johnston as the creator. Johnston explained that the brass melody was the part people had been singing along with. That describes the tune and its reception, not a vocal credit for Fandango. WWE’s interview with Johnston discusses how the theme was made.

Batista and Evolution — outside performers
WWE’s theme overview attributes Batista’s “I Walk Alone” to the band Saliva, and Evolution’s “Line in the Sand” to Motörhead. These examples underline the difference between a wrestler’s entrance song and a wrestler’s own vocal performance. WWE’s overview names the performers.
How to tell who actually sang a wrestling theme
- Look for a vocal credit. A track listing or a direct account naming the vocalist is stronger evidence than a wrestler’s association with the song.
- Separate composition from performance. A composer may write or produce the theme without singing it; Johnston’s role on Fandango’s theme is a clear example.
- Do not treat a crowd sing-along as a recording credit. Fans may sing a melody that is played instrumentally or sung by someone else.
- Check the version. A theme may have different releases or arrangements. The WWE account of Michaels establishes that he recorded “Sexy Boy,” but does not itemize the vocalists on every version.
WWE’s official playlist is titled as a collection of Superstars who sang their own entrance music, but its reviewed page does not provide an itemized roster in the page text. It therefore cannot establish additional names here. WWE’s playlist page is available for listeners.

Where entrance themes fit in WWE music
WWE’s music operation has drawn on in-house staff as well as artists and outside labels. Its 2006 corporate announcement also reported that Cena’s album You Can’t See Me debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard Top 200; that figure refers to the album, not to his entrance theme or a measure of wrestling vocal ability. WWE Corporate’s 2006 announcement describes the music group and the album.
For anyone looking to hear or collect these tracks, WWE has documented entrance-theme compilations, including Voices: WWE The Music, Vol. 9. Availability, format and track lists can vary by release, so check the specific edition rather than assuming a current listing contains every theme mentioned here.
