That U.S. launch came before Hulu replaced Star as Disney+’s general-entertainment brand in most international markets in October 2025.
Why does the Disney+ logo look teal?
Disney introduced a refined Disney+ logo, a new color palette and an orchestral mnemonic by composer Ludwig Göransson as part of the March 2024 brand refresh. The company described the color treatment as one that “blends Hulu’s signature green into the legacy Disney+ blue.” The teal appearance is a useful visual description, not an official color specification.
Disney presented the refresh as a way to welcome Hulu to Disney+ and signal a new chapter for the service. The color shift was therefore an intentional bridge between the brands, rather than an unexplained app-icon change. Disney’s March 27, 2024 launch announcement connects the identity update with Hulu’s U.S. debut on the platform.
What changed in the U.S. in March 2024?
On March 27, 2024, Disney announced the official U.S. launch of Hulu on Disney+ for Disney Bundle subscribers. The eligible experience also included people who held subscriptions to both standalone apps. Hulu titles could appear in Disney+ recommendations, sets and collections, letting eligible viewers browse the combined catalog in the Disney+ app.

Disney said standalone Disney+ and Hulu offerings remained available at that time. Those are launch-era terms, not a statement of current plan eligibility or pricing; access can depend on the date, market and subscription. For the launch, Disney’s Joe Earley said the combined experience offered viewers more ways to discover titles in one place and underscored the Disney Bundle’s value.
How did Hulu’s international role change in 2025?
The 2024 U.S. launch and logo refresh preceded a separate international change. In October 2025, Disney began making Hulu the general-entertainment brand on Disney+ in most international markets, replacing Star. Disney said the global rollout began October 8; Disney Australia announced an October 9 start for Australia and New Zealand.

Disney’s October 2025 announcement also previewed new navigation and a unified app experience planned for the following year. Those were announced plans and a rollout roadmap, not confirmation that every market has completed an app consolidation or received every planned feature. Disney’s corporate announcement describes the broader international brand change.

- It signals a brand connection: Disney explicitly linked the color treatment to Hulu’s green and Disney+ blue.
- It does not by itself establish access: seeing Hulu branding or a changed logo does not confirm that a particular title, subscription, or feature is available to every viewer.
- Market and date matter: Hulu’s role differs between the original U.S. in-app launch and its later use as the general-entertainment brand in most international markets.
For practical access, check the current Disney+ plan information and help pages for your country. The 2024 launch announcement should not be used as a current subscription guide.
