Netflix omitted him from its May 8, 2024 cast announcement, but it has not publicly confirmed the precise reason for the casting decision. The season itself explains Xavier Thorpe’s absence by sending him to a school in Switzerland.
Spoilers for Wednesday season 1 and the season 2 premiere.
Percy Hynes White is not returning to Wednesday season 2 as Xavier Thorpe. Netflix left him out of its official season 2 cast announcement on May 8, 2024, and he is not listed in Netflix’s season 2 cast guide. The real-world reason for the omission has not been officially confirmed by Netflix or the show’s producers.
The timing is significant: online sexual-misconduct allegations against Hynes White surfaced in January 2023, followed by additional allegations. Hynes White denied the accusations in a June 2023 statement, describing them as a “campaign of misinformation.” Public reporting connected the controversy with his absence from season 2, but no source reviewed for this article establishes that Netflix formally removed him because of the allegations.

What happened to Percy Hynes White?
Hynes White played Xavier Thorpe, a Nevermore Academy student who was part of Wednesday Addams’s season 1 romantic triangle. Xavier was also central to the season’s mystery: he became a suspect after being falsely accused of murder, although the accusation was eventually cleared up.
When Netflix announced the season 2 cast as production began on May 8, 2024, the list included returning performers such as Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Fred Armisen and Jamie McShane. Hynes White was not included. Contemporary reporting described him as dropped from the series while also noting his public denial of the allegations.
That omission is the clearest production-level fact available. It does not, by itself, prove why the decision was made. Netflix did not publicly issue a statement saying that the allegations were the reason for his departure, and the show’s producers did not publicly provide a different detailed explanation.

The allegations and Hynes White’s response
In January 2023, a woman accused Hynes White on social media of sexual assault and alleged that he hosted parties where underage girls were supplied with drugs and alcohol. Further allegations appeared online later. These were allegations, not established findings in the sources reviewed.

Hynes White responded in June 2023 through an Instagram statement. He denied the rumors and said that a campaign of misinformation had been directed at him. He also said that his family had been doxxed and that friends had received death threats.
There is an important distinction between reporting the controversy and declaring its claims proven. The available reporting reviewed here does not establish that Hynes White was criminally charged, that a court or other legal authority found him liable or guilty, or that Netflix officially attributed his exit to the allegations.

What Jenna Ortega said about the change
Jenna Ortega addressed Hynes White’s absence in an interview with Vanity Fair. She called the change “a weird redirect” and said that the season was introducing enough new characters that the change might become less noticeable.
Ortega’s comment indicates that the creative direction had to be adjusted. It does not confirm what caused the casting change, however. “A weird redirect” is not an official explanation that Hynes White was removed because of the allegations.

Xavier is said to be attending Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland. He remains indirectly connected to Wednesday through a message and artwork sent to her, but he does not appear onscreen in the season 2 episodes covered by the available reporting.
The explanation also advances the season’s plot. Vincent Thorpe had been an important Nevermore benefactor. His withdrawal creates a funding problem, which brings Morticia Addams into the school’s gala committee story. In other words, the fictional explanation is not merely a line explaining why Xavier is missing; it gives the season a new institutional conflict.
