Peacock does stream selected titles in 4K Ultra HD. The service’s official policy says both Premium and Premium Plus subscribers can receive 4K, but only when the specific title has a 4K version and playback uses a compatible device. A 4K television alone does not guarantee a UHD stream, and Premium Plus is not required solely for higher resolution.
When Peacock shows HD, the limitation is usually the title, plan entitlement, device, app route, or software—not the television panel itself.
Does Peacock support 4K?
Yes, but not across the entire catalog. Peacock offers 4K on selected programming and supported playback devices. Open a program’s information or details screen and look for the “4K UHD” badge. Eligible content plays in 4K automatically; Peacock does not provide a manual resolution switch.
A 4K display can upscale an HD stream, making it look sharper, but upscaling is not the same as receiving a native 4K source. Peacock’s official policy is available at Peacock’s 4K UHD help page.

Which Peacock plans include 4K?
Peacock identifies both Premium and Premium Plus as eligible for its 4K offering. The prices below were listed on August 16, 2026; promotions, taxes and partner billing can change.
| Plan | Price listed August 16, 2026 | 4K eligibility | Relevant features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | $10.99/month or $109.99/year | Yes, for eligible titles on supported devices | Ads; television, movies, sports and events |
| Premium Plus | $16.99/month or $169.99/year | Yes, for eligible titles on supported devices | Fewer ads, downloads and other Premium Plus benefits; some ads remain in channels, live sports and events, and selected programming |

Why Peacock shows HD on a 4K TV
The title is HD-only
Many shows, films and event feeds simply do not have a 4K version on Peacock. A 4K television cannot create missing source detail.

- Ultra-speedy streaming: Roku Ultra is 30% faster than any other Roku player, delivering a lightning-fast interface and apps that launch in a snap.
- Cinematic streaming: This TV streaming device brings the movie theater to your living room with spectacular 4K, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision picture alongside immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
- The ultimate Roku remote: The rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro offers backlit buttons, hands-free voice controls, and a lost remote finder.
- No more fumbling in the dark: See what you’re pressing with backlit buttons.
- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
The title has no 4K UHD badge
The badge is Peacock’s consumer-facing indication that a 4K version is available. If it is absent, treat the title as unavailable in 4K on the service rather than assuming the app or television is malfunctioning.

Your device is not approved for Peacock UHD
A device may output 4K from other apps yet lack Peacock’s 4K delivery support. Peacock says only some compatible devices can play its 4K content, so general 4K capability and Peacock-specific eligibility are separate questions.
The account or billing route is different
Direct subscriptions, promotional access, legacy offers and partner-billed accounts may not expose identical entitlements. If you use a bundle, confirm which account is billed and which app is playing the program. For example, Peacock’s Apple arrangement directs viewers to watch Peacock content in the Peacock app; details are at Peacock’s Apple help page.

- Compact without compromises: Our sleek design won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, so you can switch from streaming to gaming with ease. Plus, it’s designed to stay hidden behind your TV, keeping wires neatly out of sight
The model or operating system is outdated
Peacock’s supported-device list includes minimum software versions and model requirements. A product name containing “4K” is not enough; check the exact model and current operating system at Peacock’s supported devices and platforms page.
How to check a Peacock title for 4K
- Confirm the plan. The verified 4K plans are Premium and Premium Plus.
- Open the title’s information screen. Look for the “4K UHD” badge.
- Confirm the exact playback device. Check its model number and software, not just the television brand or panel resolution.
- Use the native Peacock app where practical. If available, compare it with another supported external device as a diagnostic test; this is not a guarantee that one route will always provide UHD.
- Do not search for a 4K toggle. Peacock says qualifying playback switches to 4K automatically and cannot be manually forced.
When the plan, badge and device all qualify, Peacock should deliver the UHD version automatically. If there is no badge, further television settings are unlikely to change that title’s resolution.

This is an app-support list, not a complete 4K-certification matrix. Peacock explicitly limits UHD playback to some compatible devices, so verify the exact model before buying hardware or concluding that a listed platform must output 4K.
Should you upgrade to Premium Plus for 4K?
Upgrade when you want its other benefits
- Fewer advertisements, while recognizing that ads can remain in channels, live sports and events, and some programming.
- Downloads and other Premium Plus features listed on the plan page.
Do not upgrade solely for resolution
Premium already qualifies for eligible 4K titles. An upgrade will not turn an HD-only program into 4K, add a missing 4K badge, or make an unsupported device Peacock-UHD compatible.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.4K, HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are different
4K/UHD describes image resolution. HDR describes expanded brightness and color; Dolby Vision is one HDR format. Dolby Atmos concerns immersive audio. A title can support one capability without supporting the others, and Peacock’s 4K badge does not establish that every title also includes HDR, Dolby Vision or Atmos.

Peacock has announced Dolby technology for selected programming, including live sports, but that announcement does not make every 4K title a full Dolby package. Check the specific title metadata and device support.
Why live sports can be especially confusing
Live events can use different feeds, cameras, replays, commercials and distribution routes. A 4K label for one event does not prove that every segment or alternate feed is native 4K. Verify the particular event listing, and do not generalize from one broadcast to Peacock’s entire sports catalog.
Practical troubleshooting checklist
- Verify that the account is Premium or Premium Plus.
- Check the program information page for the “4K UHD” badge.
- Confirm the exact TV, streaming-stick, set-top-box or console model and update its operating system.
- Update the Peacock app and restart the device.
- Compare the television’s native Peacock app with a supported external device if one is available.
- Check whether the subscription is direct or partner-billed and make sure the correct Peacock account is signed in.
- If a 4K-badged title still plays in HD on a confirmed supported setup, contact Peacock support with the title, account route, device model and software version.
What to choose
- No 4K UHD badge: the title is probably not offered in 4K.
- Badge plus an ineligible plan: choose Premium or Premium Plus.
- Badge plus an eligible plan but an unsupported device: use a device that Peacock supports for UHD, after checking the exact model.
- Badge, eligible plan and supported device but HD playback: investigate the app, account, software or platform-delivery path.
If your priority is only Peacock 4K, Premium is the least expensive verified option listed. Choose Premium Plus for fewer ads and downloads, not because it unlocks a higher resolution tier. Paramount+ advertises 4K UHD, Dolby Vision and HDR10 for select titles on its Premium plan, but it remains title- and device-dependent; see its plan page if the programming you want is available there.
