Justin Timberlake faced criticism after a clip from his July 17, 2025, Electric Castle performance in Romania showed him inviting the crowd to sing much of “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” Some viewers said they expected him to carry more of the vocals. The clip and online reactions do not establish how the full set went or why he performed that way.
What happened in the Electric Castle clip?
At the Romanian festival, Timberlake began singing “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” before turning the microphone toward the audience. Hindustan Times reported that he prompted the crowd with “Say what?” and, before the chorus, “Sing, c’mon.” The visible audience participation became the focus of the circulating clip. Hindustan Times
Complex dated the performance to July 17, 2025, and reported that heavy rain and a roughly 40-minute delay preceded it. Those details help explain the setting for audience frustration, but they do not show why Timberlake handed the vocals to the crowd. Complex
Why were viewers critical?
The central complaint was that fans felt Timberlake asked them to sing too much during a major hit, rather than performing more of it himself. Fox News reproduced social-media comments such as “So y’all went to karaoke?” and “This performance could’ve been an email.” These are individual commenters’ reactions, not an assessment of the entire concert.
