Andrew Cody is called “Pope” because, as a teenager, he took an interest in going to church. Spoiler: Season 6, Episode 5, “Covet,” revisits the nickname’s backstory.
How Andrew got the nickname
A character reference says Andrew befriended Father Kirby, joined a Bible study group and attended his church. His brothers’ nickname for him grew out of that religious interest; it is a teasing reference to his churchgoing, not a religious title.

Where the show revisits the story
In “Covet,” the Season 6 flashback storyline returns to 1992 and a rectory robbery. TVLine’s July 3, 2022 recap reports that Baz calls Andrew “Pope” in connection with that storyline. The flashback gives viewers the context for a nickname that remains attached to Andrew.
Who Pope is
Andrew “Pope” Cody is the same character: the eldest Cody brother, played by Shawn Hatosy. Warner Bros. Discovery’s character description calls him volatile and describes his struggle with dangerous impulses; “Pope” is his familiar nickname, not an indication that he holds a religious office.
