The band announced the postponements on July 2, 2024. Wilson said her doctors had directed her to step away from performing for the rest of that year so she could recover.
Why did Heart postpone its 2024 tour?
In the July 2, 2024 announcement, Heart said all remaining dates on both tours were postponed because of Wilson’s health. The venue-hosted statement reproduced Wilson’s explanation: “I underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous.” She said the operation was successful, that she was feeling well, and that her doctors advised a course of preventive chemotherapy.
Wilson also said her doctors had instructed her to take the rest of 2024 away from the stage to recover. Her statement did not name a cancer type or stage, so no more specific diagnosis can be established from it. The July 2 announcement is the primary source for the band’s postponement and Wilson’s words.
What happened to Ann Wilson?
Wilson disclosed that surgery had removed something cancerous and that she had decided to undergo the preventive chemotherapy her doctors recommended. She described the operation as successful. Those details are from her public statement in July 2024, not a current medical update.

Wilson said at the time that she planned to return to the stage in 2025, adding, “This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing.” That was her stated intention in 2024; it should not be read as confirmation of her present health or schedule. ABC News’ contemporaneous report also noted that Heart had postponed the European leg in May, citing what the band then called a “time-sensitive but routine medical procedure.” That earlier description does not establish what the procedure was or whether it was related to the cancer Wilson later disclosed.
Will postponed 2024 Heart tickets still be valid?
The July announcement said ticket buyers should hold on to their tickets, which would be honored for rescheduled dates, with more details to follow. That was the plan announced at the time; it does not establish the status or terms of any individual ticket today.
