Two women identified as Jane Does sued singer Gloria Trevi and former producer Sergio Andrade in Los Angeles County in late December 2022. Why was Gloria Trevi sued?
The civil complaint was filed in Los Angeles County by two adult women identified in news reports as Jane Does. The Los Angeles Times reported a filing date of December 30, 2022, while EL PAÍS reported December 31; both place the suit in late December 2022. The Times described the complaint as 30 pages. According to reporting on the complaint, the plaintiffs alleged that they were 13 and 15 when Trevi approached or recruited them into a music-training program associated with Andrade. They said the program was presented as a path to becoming performers, and alleged Andrade sexually abused them while Trevi groomed or recruited them. EL PAÍS reported that the alleged abuse occurred in Mexico City and California, including Los Angeles County. These are allegations in a civil case, not findings of fact.
What did Gloria Trevi say?
Trevi publicly denied the accusations. On January 6, 2023, the Los Angeles Times reported her statement: “I will not remain silent while I am unfairly accused of crimes I did not commit.” EL PAÍS also quoted her as saying, “The accusations were false when they were made and remain false today.” Both statements express Trevi’s position; neither determines what happened.

In a separate statement at the 2018 Latin American Music Awards, reported by EL PAÍS, Trevi said: “I was not complicit. I was 15 years old, with a mindset of 12, when I met a big producer.” That earlier remark also reflects her account, not an independent legal finding.
How does the lawsuit relate to earlier legal proceedings?
The 2022 civil case revived earlier accusations involving Trevi and Andrade, but it is a separate proceeding from the criminal matters described in past reporting. The accounts differ in how they characterize those earlier outcomes:

A May 2024 Rolling Stone Canada report said a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge allowed Trevi’s cross-complaint against the Jane Doe plaintiffs to proceed past a challenge.
