Village Food Secrets grew from quiet videos of Pakistani village cooking into a widely watched YouTube channel. Its creator, Mubashir Saddique, left a factory job to share family recipes, regional dishes and everyday cooking in the rural setting where he lives. The channel’s appeal lies in that combination: food instruction, a village landscape and a practical style that does not hide the work behind a studio kitchen.
From a football factory to family recipes
Mubashir Saddique lives in Shahpur, Punjab. Before making cooking videos full time, he worked as a production manager at a football factory in Sialkot and commuted from his village, according to a profile published by Images and republished by Scroll on September 9, 2018 (Scroll’s 2018 profile).
His first video demonstrated how to make mooli parathas, the radish-stuffed flatbread. In the profile’s account, he initially said little, then became more comfortable naming ingredients and addressing viewers. He told Images: “I want the world to know my family’s secret recipes.”
That aim gives the channel its center of gravity: recipes connected to home and region, presented by the person making them rather than framed as a formal cooking show. The repertoire is not limited to traditional dishes. The 2018 profile also described videos for burgers and pizza, including pizza bases and buns baked in an earthen tandoor.

Cooking in a village setting
The setting is part of what viewers see. The 2018 profile describes Saddique cooking with twigs in a makeshift stove, using produce from his kitchen garden, and crushing garlic and ginger with a wooden mortar and pestle. Earthenware and an earthen tandoor appear alongside ordinary ingredients and hands-on preparation. The result differs from a polished studio kitchen: the surroundings and tools remain visible as part of the cooking.
The profile also records small changes in production as the channel developed: Saddique had acquired a better microphone and a drone for aerial photography, while his brother had sent him an electric rice cooker. These are details from that 2018 account, not a description of his current setup or a list of equipment viewers need to copy. A wooden mortar and pestle is one tool shown in use, but the article does not present it as essential.

One recipe milestone in the same profile was a seekh kabab video, which it reported had received 3.4 million views by the article’s publication period. That is a historical figure for that report, not a current view count.
A family presence behind the camera
Family is not only the source of recipes in the profile’s telling. Saddique’s father served as the channel’s chief food taster. At the end of videos, he would say, “Zindabad puttar, maza aa gya,” translated in the article as “Long live son, loved it.” The profile says Saddique told the publication he had never instructed his father what to say.

The 2018 article also reports that Saddique cooked larger quantities every two weeks and treated less-privileged children in his village. It describes that practice during the period covered by the profile; it does not establish whether it continues today.

The dated reports show that Village Food Secrets had attracted a substantial audience by 2021. They do not establish its present subscriber count, current upload schedule or recent viewing totals.
The 2018 profile said viewers in Pakistan, India, the United Kingdom, the United States and Saudi Arabia were among the largest audience groups Saddique described to the publication. That, too, is a period-specific account, not a current audience breakdown.

Why Village Food Secrets stands out as a documentary portrait
Village Food Secrets is more than a sequence of recipes: its videos make the place and process visible.
