The source said the decision was not only about Disney’s financial ties to Epic Games: Disney also did not think Roblox was safe at the time. That is a reported explanation, not a public Disney statement or a permanent policy.
What the report says about Disney and Roblox
The December 2025 account, carried by Yahoo News Malaysia as a Variety syndication and summarized by Dexerto, distinguishes between past campaigns and an official partnership. Disney had previously run campaigns on Roblox, but Variety’s unnamed source said Disney did not then have a formal platform presence or an official Roblox games or IP-licensing deal.
The source attributed the reported hesitation to two considerations: Disney’s financial relationship with Epic Games and a view that Roblox was not safe at that time. The available coverage does not establish that Disney publicly announced a rejection, explain the terms of any internal decision, or show that Epic was the sole reason.
Does Disney think Roblox is unsafe for children?
The reported safety concern came from an unnamed source speaking to Variety. It should not be recast as a direct statement by Disney, a definitive assessment of every Roblox experience, or proof that the company has adopted a permanent policy against working with Roblox.

Roblox describes its own safety systems in its 2025 Form 10-K, including human and automated moderation, parental controls, and age-check systems. The filing also acknowledges limitations: users may evade systems, and age-check methods can misclassify users. These disclosures describe Roblox’s account of its tools and risks; they are not an independent test of how well the safeguards work.
Roblox Chief Safety Officer Matt Kaufman’s January 29, 2026 Safety Snapshot describes proactive avatar moderation and civility efforts. It reports that users changed their avatars an average of 274 million times per day in 2025. That figure measures platform activity, not safety outcomes or Disney’s reasoning.

Why the Epic Games connection is part of the story
Disney’s financial ties to Epic Games are relevant business context because the Variety source mentioned them alongside the safety concern. But the report does not support reducing Disney’s reported position to competition with Epic or Fortnite. It presents the Epic relationship and the source’s safety explanation as factors, without establishing their relative weight.
Nor does the reported account establish a confirmed Disney–Roblox partnership option that Disney considered and rejected. A promotional campaign is different from a licensed Roblox experience or a broader games and intellectual-property agreement.

What Roblox’s newer filings add—and what they do not
Roblox’s interim filing for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 describes an evolving regulatory environment spanning online safety, content moderation, privacy, and protections for minors. The filing is useful context for the broader platform landscape, but it does not connect any specific rule or proceeding to Disney’s reported decision.
Roblox’s Terms of Use, effective May 19, 2026, set out the platform’s relationship among user terms, creator terms, and its privacy policy. They explain the platform’s structure; they do not confirm what Disney decided or whether its position has changed.

Is Disney on Roblox now?
The reported status dates to December 2025. The accounts cited here do not establish whether Disney or Roblox announced a change after that coverage, so the report should not be treated as a verified statement of the companies’ status today. What it establishes is narrower: Variety’s source described no formal presence or official games or IP-licensing partnership at that time, despite earlier campaigns.
