Why did she make the request?

Who were the messages directed at?
Grande did not identify the recipients in the Story, and the cited reports do not establish who received messages. Naming a former partner or another person as the confirmed target would go beyond what she said. Speculation about a song’s subject is not confirmation of who received messages or what Grande intended a lyric to mean. Bustle

She acknowledged that the album captures painful moments, while emphasizing that deep, sincere love runs through it. Her statement asked listeners not to reduce that emotional material to a reason to attack people around her; it did not identify particular songs, lyrics, or relationships as the basis for the messages.
