In the UK trailer for 20th Century Fox’s 2015 Fantastic Four, a brief garage scene shows young Reed Richards using a stack of objects identified at the time as Nintendo 64 consoles to power a homemade teleporter. It is a retro-tech detail in a fictional experiment—not a practical use for the consoles.
What appears in the trailer?
The shot is part of a flashback to Reed Richards as a boy, working on a teleportation experiment in his garage. Tech Times placed the stack at about the 23-second mark and described the objects cautiously as “what appear to be” Nintendo 64s; IBTimes UK also identified them as a stack of Nintendo 64 consoles. The contemporary reports describe the consoles as powering the fictional device, not as a real-world method of teleportation.

The UK trailer opens with young Reed, played by Owen Judge, and young Ben Grimm, played by Evan Hannemann. The garage apparatus gives visual form to Reed’s interest in teleportation: TIME reports that he tells his teacher he wants to be the first person to teleport himself. As adults, Reed and Ben are played by Miles Teller and Jamie Bell, respectively.
Why use Nintendo 64s?
The trailer uses recognizable video-game hardware as part of Reed’s improvised-looking machine. That makes the equipment a memorable bit of retro-futurist set dressing, but the available contemporary coverage does not establish why the filmmakers chose N64 consoles or provide a production explanation from the cast or crew. The image should be read as a cinematic prop detail, not as evidence that Nintendo 64 hardware can function as a modern computing cluster or make a teleporter.

Which Fantastic Four film is this?
This is the 2015 Fox film Fantastic Four, not Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Disney’s 2025 press material describes First Steps as a separate film set in a 1960s-inspired world; it does not connect that campaign to the N64 garage shot. The 2015 coverage listed theatrical dates as August 6 in the UK and August 7 in the United States, but those were upcoming dates when the stories were published, not current release information.
