In the US, Disney+ does not support downloads on computers, smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, or Windows 10/11 tablets. Use the symptom that matches your problem below.
Check eligibility before troubleshooting

Plan names and availability differ outside the US and can change. Confirm the exact plan on your Disney+ account page.
The fastest fixes
- Reconnect to reliable Wi-Fi and pause other heavy downloads or streams.
- Open Disney+, tap your profile icon, choose App Settings, and check the available storage shown near the bottom.
- Force-close Disney+, then reopen it.
- Restart the phone, tablet, headset, or other supported device.
- Update Disney+ from your device’s app store.
- Delete the incomplete or affected download and start it again.
- In App Settings, open Video Quality or Download Quality and choose Standard, Medium, or High. Standard uses the least space and downloads fastest; High uses the most space and downloads slowest.
- Reinstall the app only after safer steps. Reinstallation removes local downloads, so plan to download them again.
These steps reflect Disney+’s official offline-download troubleshooting sequence.
If the Download button is missing
Check the platform
Streaming support does not imply download support. A browser, smart TV, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Xbox, or PlayStation may play Disney+ while offering no offline downloads. Move to the Disney+ app on a supported mobile device.

Check the plan
Ad-supported plans do not include downloads in the current US documentation. Changing from an eligible plan to an ineligible one removes previously downloaded Disney+ content.
Check the title
If other movies or episodes download normally but one title has no download icon, that title may not be licensed for downloading, may be temporarily unavailable, or may have regional restrictions. An absent icon is not proof that the app is broken.
Refresh the app
On a supported device with an eligible plan, force-close Disney+, restart the device, and update the app. If the control remains absent, contact Disney+ through its Help Center.
If tapping Download produces an error
- Try a different title. If it works, the problem is probably title-specific.
- Move closer to a reliable Wi-Fi access point and pause competing traffic.
- Check storage and lower the download quality if space or speed is limited.
- Force-close and reopen Disney+, then restart the device.
- Delete any partial file and retry.
Disney+ publishes general speed guidance of 5 Mbps for HD, 8 Mbps for live content, and 25 Mbps for 4K UHD. Those figures are streaming recommendations, not guaranteed minimums for every download: Disney+ speed recommendations.

If a download stops partway through
- Restore a stable connection; a weak or lost connection can pause a download.
- Open the Downloads area and resume it.
- Confirm airplane mode is off while downloading.
- Check available storage and remove unused downloads or large files.
- If it remains stuck, delete the partial download, restart Disney+, and retry at Standard or Medium quality.
- Test another title to separate a title restriction from a device or network problem.
Mobile-data restrictions may prevent downloading over cellular, so switching away from Wi-Fi is not a universal fix.
If downloads disappeared
You logged out
Disney+ removes downloaded content when you log out. Sign in again and redownload the titles; logging out should not be used as routine troubleshooting.
You changed plans
Moving to an ineligible plan removes access to existing downloads. Verify the exact subscription in your account settings.
You canceled
Canceling the subscription removes access to downloaded content because downloads are tied to an active subscription.

The device stayed offline too long
Disney+ requires the downloading device to reconnect at least once every 30 days. Without that check, downloads may disappear or become unavailable until you reconnect and download them again.
The title expired
Some titles are available for a limited period or leave the streaming library sooner. A download is not a permanent copy; its availability depends on subscription status, title rights, and the app’s periodic verification.
You are checking another device
Downloads remain on the phone, tablet, Vision Pro, or Quest used to download them. They do not automatically appear on another phone, a television, a computer, or a different profile’s device.
If a download exists but will not play offline
- Open the Disney+ app, not a browser or TV app.
- Use the same supported device that downloaded the title.
- From Home, select the Downloads icon, then choose the movie or event and press Play. For a series, open it and select the episode.
- Reconnect the device briefly if it has been offline for close to 30 days, then reopen Disney+.
- Confirm the subscription is still active and download-eligible.
- If the title still fails, delete it and redownload it while online.
Storage and quality settings
Free space shown by the operating system is not always fully available to Disney+: the selected title, queued downloads, temporary files, and reserved system space all compete for capacity. Delete unused downloads, remove other large files or apps, restart the device, and redownload one title first.

Use Profile icon → App Settings → Video Quality or Download Quality to select:
- Standard: least storage and fastest downloads, with lower picture quality.
- Medium: a compromise between size, speed, and quality.
- High: best listed quality, but largest files and slowest downloads.
On some Android devices, Disney+’s cache guidance includes Settings → Apps → Disney+ → Storage → Clear Cache or Clear Data: cache and data instructions. Clear Data can remove local app information and downloads, so use it only after restarting, updating, and trying a fresh download.
Download limits and bundle content
Disney+ documents the same movie or episode as downloadable on up to 10 supported mobile devices, subject to storage. That is separate from simultaneous-streaming limits, profile counts, and Hulu rules. Select Hulu content can have a separate limit of 25 downloads across five supported mobile devices; do not assume Disney+ and Hulu content share one policy.
When to contact Disney+ Support
Contact Disney+ through the Help Center after confirming the device and plan, testing another title, checking storage, restarting and updating the app, and retrying the download. Include the device model, app version, title, exact symptom, and any displayed error. Do not assume there is an outage from one failed download, and do not use a VPN as a fix because it can change location and title availability.
