Spoilers for the ending of The Acolyte season 1, episode 4, “Day.” A separate section below also spoils episode 5.
Episode 4 ends with a masked stranger carrying a red lightsaber confronting the Jedi on Khofar. The episode’s official guide does not name the figure or identify them as a Dark Lord. The answer comes in episode 5: StarWars.com identifies the Stranger as Mae’s Master, played by Manny Jacinto.
What happens at the end of The Acolyte episode 4?
“Day,” the fourth episode of season 1, follows Master Sol and his Jedi team to Khofar. They are trying to find Kelnacca and capture Mae, who has begun to reconsider her plans after seeing her twin sister, Osha.
In the forest, the Jedi encounter an imposing stranger dressed in a dark cloak. The figure wears a mask that hides their face and carries a red lightsaber. That is the episode’s cliffhanger: a threatening new presence appears, but the episode 4 synopsis leaves their identity undisclosed.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
StarWars.com’s “Day” episode guide describes the encounter without naming the stranger. It does not confirm that the character is a Dark Lord or specify a Sith rank.
Does episode 4 reveal who the masked stranger is?
No. Episode 4 introduces the masked figure but does not reveal their name or explain their place in the story. Calling the figure “the Dark Lord” as a confirmed identification goes beyond what the episode itself establishes.

The distinction matters because the cliffhanger is designed to conceal the character’s identity. The red lightsaber and ominous appearance are part of what viewers see; they are not, by themselves, an official confirmation of a particular title or rank.
Spoiler: Who is the Stranger in episode 5?
Episode 5 spoiler: The next episode, “Night,” continues the confrontation on Khofar. Its events bring the Jedi into a fight with the Stranger, and StarWars.com’s recap identifies the Stranger as Mae’s Master. Lucasfilm’s series page credits Manny Jacinto as the actor playing the Stranger.

Lucasfilm places the series in the final years of the High Republic, about 100 years before The Phantom Menace. That is approximate chronology, not an exact interval. The series setting helps frame the story, but it does not change what episode 4 does and does not reveal about the masked figure.
