Shrek 5 is scheduled to open in theaters on June 30, 2027. Its official teaser arrived June 16, 2026, and the announced cast includes returning stars Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz, alongside Zendaya, Marcello Hernández and Skyler Gisondo. Here is what the studio has confirmed—and what it has not yet revealed.
When does Shrek 5 come out?
DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek 5 is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 30, 2027. NBCUniversal stated that date in its June 16, 2026 teaser announcement and repeated it in a May 14, 2026 anniversary article. The announcement does not specify a territory-by-territory rollout. NBCUniversal’s official announcement is the most direct source for the current date.
An earlier May 12, 2025 toy-partnership announcement listed December 23, 2026. That is an older date, superseded by the studio’s June 2026 announcement; it should not be treated as the current schedule. Release dates can change, so check official studio updates closer to the planned opening.
Who is in the Shrek 5 cast?
NBCUniversal announced six voice performers and their characters:

Is there a Shrek 5 trailer?
Yes. Universal and DreamWorks released an officially identified teaser trailer on June 16, 2026. What is the story of Shrek 5?
The studio describes the movie as a “new comedy adventure.” Its announcement confirms the presence of Shrek and Fiona’s daughter Felicia and her brothers Fergus and Farkle, but does not give a detailed plot synopsis. The teaser is not a substitute for an official synopsis, so more specific claims about the premise should be treated as unconfirmed unless the studio states them.
What has not been announced?
The cited official announcement does not establish a detailed synopsis, runtime, rating, complete voice cast, sequel home-media release date or Shrek 5 streaming date. NBCUniversal noted in June 2026 that Peacock carried the four existing Shrek films, but that does not announce streaming rights or a streaming date for the new sequel; catalogs can also vary by region and change over time.
