Michael Rubin is the founder and CEO of Fanatics, a sports-commerce company that sells licensed fan gear and has expanded into trading cards, collectibles, sports betting, prediction markets, events and media. He is also known for hosting an annual celebrity White Party in the Hamptons around the Fourth of July. The latest reported gathering took place July 1, 2026, at his home in Bridgehampton, New York.
What does Michael Rubin do?
Rubin leads Fanatics, which describes itself as a global sports platform. Its activities span several distinct businesses:
- Fan gear: officially licensed merchandise for sports fans.
- Trading cards and collectibles: sports-related collecting products.
- Betting and prediction markets: sports-focused wagering and forecasting businesses.
- Events and media: programming and gatherings for sports audiences.
These are Fanatics business lines; they should not be confused with Rubin’s personal assets or treated as businesses he individually owns. Fanatics identifies him as its founder and CEO on its official biography.
How did Michael Rubin build his career?
From early ventures to GSI Commerce
A 2025 Town & Country interview recounts that Rubin began with a snow-shoveling business at age eight, traded cards and seeds, and later opened a ski shop in his parents’ basement. These are details reported in that interview, rather than independently audited records.

Rubin founded GSI Commerce, an e-commerce company that eBay acquired in 2011 for $2.4 billion, according to Fanatics’ biography. He later became the third-largest shareholder in the Philadelphia 76ers. In June 2022, he sold his stake, saying he wanted to focus on Fanatics and its expansion.
Fanatics grows beyond merchandise
Fanatics expanded from licensed sports merchandise into collectibles and trading cards, betting and prediction markets, and events and media. One example of the events strategy is Fanatics Fest: in 2026 coverage of an interview with Rich Kleiman, Rubin recalled seeing Comic-Con and asking, “Why don’t we have this for sports fans?” Boardroom reported the remark.

What is Michael Rubin’s Hamptons White Party?
The White Party is a high-profile private gathering associated with the Fourth of July, hosted by Rubin at his Hamptons-area home. It brings together people from sports, music, film and popular culture. The sources reviewed do not describe public ticketing or a public admission route, so it is not presented as an event open to general attendance.
El País reported that the 2026 party took place on Wednesday, July 1, at Rubin’s home in Bridgehampton, New York—not on July 4 itself. The report said the date was chosen to avoid making guests choose between the party and another anticipated event. Rubin’s statement to People, quoted by El País, was translated as: “We didn’t want to force people to choose.”

Among those reported at the 2026 gathering were Martha Stewart, Travis Scott, Emma Roberts, Teyana Taylor, Tate McRae, Tom Brady and Jay-Z. The same report named Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne and Cardi B as performers, with Alicia Keys closing the night. This is a reported guest list, not an official or necessarily complete record of everyone who attended. El País’s account of the 2026 party has the event details.
The party’s schedule is not necessarily fixed every year. A 2025 Town & Country profile said Rubin planned then to skip the White Party and hold it and a REFORM Alliance gala in alternating years. The event’s return in 2026 shows that the 2025 description was not a permanent schedule rule.

Why is Michael Rubin so visible?
Rubin’s public profile reflects two overlapping networks: Fanatics’ position across sports commerce and his relationships with people in sports and entertainment. The White Party makes those connections unusually visible because its reported guests and performances draw broad media attention, while Fanatics gives Rubin a prominent role in the business of sports beyond merchandise.
