The Independent also attributes its account of the couple’s first meeting to Jean-Pierre’s 2019 memoir, so that detail rests on her own recollection as reported by the outlet.
The September 2023 separation disclosure
The separation was made public in Vogue’s September 7, 2023 profile. The reporting establishes when Jean-Pierre disclosed the separation, not when the relationship ended. Vogue quotes Jean-Pierre, then White House press secretary, describing her role as a parent:

She did not offer a reason for the separation in the material available from these sources, and this article does not speculate about one.
Their daughter, Soleil
The couple’s daughter, Soleil, is the only family member the sources name. Jean-Pierre limited what she said about her in the interview, and her stated priority shows how much detail is appropriate to repeat:

Neither outlet provides a current career biography, so no present job, title or honor should be assumed for her.

The most recent public update in these sources is from September 2023. Later developments are outside what this article can confirm. Specifically, the reporting does not establish:
- The exact date the relationship ended.
- Why the couple separated.
- Any legal custody order or private co-parenting arrangement.
- Whether the couple’s situation has changed since September 2023.
- Malveaux’s current employment.
Further reading on Jean-Pierre
Jean-Pierre’s memoir, Moving Forward: A Story of Hope, Hard Work, and the Promise of America, is optional further reading. It is an account of her own life rather than a book about the relationship. Vogue reports that she was born in Martinique to Haitian parents and moved as a baby first to Paris and later to New York, which is background only and does not answer the question of who her former partner is.
