Zendaya’s parents are Claire Stoermer and Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, both described in published profiles as teachers. Stoermer’s summer work at California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda introduced Zendaya to live performance as a child, while her parents supported her early acting classes and career. Zendaya has credited them with working hard to provide for her and with serving as personal role models.
Who are Zendaya’s parents?
Zendaya’s mother is Claire Stoermer, and her father is Kazembe Ajamu Coleman. British Vogue describes both parents as teachers. Vogue’s 2017 profile identifies Coleman as a former physical-education teacher from Oakland; some coverage shortens his name to Kazembe Ajamu.
Zendaya’s full name is Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, incorporating both parents’ surnames, according to Us Weekly’s coverage of a family-tree video.
What did Claire Stoermer do?
Alongside her work as a teacher, Stoermer worked summers as house manager at the California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, according to Vogue’s 2024 profile. Zendaya watched performances there while growing up. The theater was therefore part of her early experience of performance, though the available profiles do not establish a fuller account of Stoermer’s career.
