The White House posted a video on its official X account on Monday, December 1, 2025, that paired Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Juno” with footage that news outlets described as ICE agents chasing and arresting people. Carpenter replied on December 2, calling the video “evil and disgusting.” The reporting establishes the X post and her objection. It does not establish that the same clip appeared on TikTok, that a lawsuit was filed, or that any court ruled on the use. The coverage is from December 1 and 2, 2025, and this article does not track later developments.

What the White House post showed

Axios reported that the video appeared to show ICE agents chasing and arresting people, with “Juno” playing over the footage. The caption read “Have you ever tried this one?” followed by “Bye-bye.” The Washington Post described the edit as an altered version of the song laid over clips of Latino people being arrested, chased, slammed to the ground, and handcuffed. The Guardian said the video was posted on the official White House X account and that the footage appeared to show arrests in what looked like Chicago.

These are the outlets’ descriptions of the footage. The reporting does not independently verify who the people shown are or the circumstances of each arrest, and the video itself is the only primary record of its content.

Carpenter’s response

Carpenter replied to the White House post on X on December 2, 2025. As AP and Axios reproduced her statement:

The White House reply

White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson responded to Axios on December 2, 2025. Her statement, as Axios printed it, reads:

“Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: we won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country. Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?”

Was the clip on X or TikTok?

The headline you may have seen names TikTok, but the sources that identify where the clip was posted name X. Axios, TheWrap, and The Guardian each link to or describe the White House post on X. None of the reporting establishes that this same Juno clip was published on TikTok.

  • Established: the White House posted the clip on its official X account on December 1, 2025.
  • Not established: any TikTok version of the same clip.
  • Not confirmed: whether the X post is still live. The reporting does not say, so do not assume it is still viewable.

If you are looking for a TikTok version, check the White House account’s TikTok presence directly. Nothing in the coverage confirms one exists.

Can an artist stop a government account from using a song?

Carpenter objected publicly, but the reporting does not show that her objection settled anything legally. The Washington Post reported that her representatives had not immediately responded when asked whether she would pursue legal action over copyright. No lawsuit, settlement, or ruling appears in the coverage. Whether any particular use of a song is lawful is a question for the courts, and nothing in these reports shows that one has addressed this video.

Other artists and rights holders

The episode is one of several in which government social media accounts have used popular music or culture in immigration messaging, and artists or rights holders have objected. AP listed other performers who had objected to government use of their work. Axios separately reported an objection from The Pokémon Company International to a Department of Homeland Security use of its intellectual property. These cases are context only and do not establish how any of them was resolved.
