In AIR Media-Tech’s 2026 sample of monetized YouTube channels, Education & Science had the highest median creator RPM, but that is not an advertiser price and the sample does not isolate 24/7 streams. Use it as a broad clue—not a promise about what a continuous channel will earn.
What “higher-value advertisers” can—and cannot—mean
People often ask which niches have the highest YouTube CPM when they mean which channels earn more. Those are different questions. Advertiser prices, ad impressions, views, audience geography, revenue sharing and other factors all affect what a creator receives. A niche’s reported creator RPM cannot, by itself, show what advertisers are willing to pay for a 24/7 livestream.
- RPM is creator-side revenue per thousand views after YouTube’s revenue share and other effects. It is not the amount an advertiser pays.
- Estimated ad revenue in YouTube Analytics isolates revenue from Google-sold ads. Estimated revenue includes estimated net revenue from Google-sold advertising and non-advertising sources for the selected date range and region.
- Gross CPM is estimated gross revenue per thousand ad impressions; playback-based CPM is estimated gross revenue per thousand playbacks. Neither is the same as creator RPM.
YouTube says these estimated revenue metrics can be adjusted at month-end and exclude partner-sold and partner-served advertising. Definitions and measurement matter: a figure labelled “CPM” is not automatically a creator’s take-home rate.
What the available niche figures show
AIR Media-Tech’s 2026 comparison reports median RPM across 3,595 monetized channel-months from 300 channels, with observations from May 2025 through May 2026. Its figures cover YouTube channels generally, not 24/7 livestreams specifically. AIR gives an approximate all-niche median of $2.30.

These are sample medians, not guaranteed rates or forecasts. AIR flags Transport, News & Politics, Food & Cooking, and Business & Finance as having fewer than ten sampled channels, so their figures are especially uncertain. AIR also lists an “Advertiser CPM” as an outside estimate; it is not a creator payout.
Which niches are plausible candidates—and why that is still a hypothesis
Education & Science
It led AIR’s general-channel creator RPM comparison. That makes educational programming a reasonable niche to investigate, not proof that a continuous science stream earns the most or attracts the most valuable advertisers. A live format still needs a useful, distinctive reason for viewers to stay.

Finance, business and technology
These subjects sit close to commercial decisions and services, so they are plausible candidates for strong advertiser demand. But AIR’s sampled median for Business & Finance was $2.01, based on fewer than ten channels and marked directional; Gadgets & Tech was $2.33. Those creator-side sample figures do not establish advertiser prices or a 24/7 ranking.
Transport, lifestyle, news, music, gaming and kids’ content
The reported figures vary, but they cannot be converted into universal niche rankings for always-on broadcasts. For example, Transport’s $5.69 median is based on fewer than ten channels, while Music and Gaming reported $2.28 and $2.05 respectively. Audience location, format and ad delivery can all change results, and the sample does not isolate continuous live programming.

Why a 24/7 stream may perform differently from a regular channel
AIR’s comparison is not a livestream study. It cannot tell you whether a channel that loops or continuously broadcasts the same material will match the RPM of other channels in its niche. A 24/7 schedule may create more opportunities for viewing, but it does not guarantee that ads will be served, that viewers will watch, or that the audience has the same geography and advertiser demand as the sampled channels.
Platform-wide figures also should not be mistaken for niche evidence. Alphabet reported that YouTube ads revenue increased by $4.2 billion from 2024 to 2025, driven by direct-response advertising products followed by brand advertising products, both benefiting from increased advertiser spending. That company-wide change says nothing specific about which niche or continuous-stream format earns more.

How to choose a niche without treating RPM as a promise
- Start with a real viewer need. Pick a subject you can serve with useful programming, not just a category associated with a high number in a general-channel sample.
- Check whether it works continuously. Decide what a viewer joining at any hour will learn, hear or experience, and how the programming can remain meaningfully varied.
- Check rights and monetization suitability. Confirm you have the rights to every video, image, music track and other element. Consider whether the material is appropriate for advertisers.
- Measure your own channel. In YouTube Analytics, compare estimated revenue and estimated ad revenue over consistent date ranges and regions. Treat early results as channel-specific observations, not universal niche rates.
- Separate audience growth from monetization. Track who watches and how they find the stream alongside revenue; a niche RPM estimate cannot substitute for your channel’s actual audience and ad delivery.
Originality and rights matter for always-on monetization
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. Its policy expects original, authentic work: content should not be mass-produced, generic, repetitive or manipulative. Highly repetitive videos with little educational value, commentary, narrative or variation may be ineligible. Reused material needs substantial original commentary, modification, or educational or entertainment value; permission alone does not guarantee compliance with the reused-content policy. YouTube’s concise instruction is: “Be your original creation.”
An always-on schedule is not the same thing as an interchangeable loop. Build a distinct viewer benefit, use rights-cleared material, and provide meaningful variation or original commentary. Content that fails advertiser-friendly guidelines or other applicable policies may receive limited ad earnings or no ad earnings.
