The cemetery scenes were filmed in Marblehead
The daytime cemetery scenes with Max and his classmates were filmed at Old Burial Hill on Orne Street in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Both Destination Salem and the Massachusetts Film Office identify the cemetery as being in Marblehead.
#1 Best Overall
- Conjured up by some unsuspecting pranksters, a tricky trio of 300-year-old witches set out to cast a spell on the town and reclaim their youth. But first, they must get their act together and outwit three kids and a talking cat.
Max and Dani’s house is private property
The Ocean Avenue residence used as Max and Dani’s home is a private property in Salem, not an accessible attraction. Destination Salem and the Massachusetts Film Office identify it as private. Do not enter the property or approach residents; choose public locations such as Salem Common instead.

- Separate public spaces from venues. Salem Common is public, while Pioneer Village has seasonal tours and Old Town Hall’s hours and access can vary. Confirm details with the venue before traveling.
- Keep the school visit outdoors. Phillips Elementary is not open to visitors; view the exterior from Salem Common.
- Plan Marblehead separately. Old Burial Hill is outside Salem, and should not be confused with Salem cemeteries.
- Do not count on seeing interiors. The cited location information establishes the Ropes Mansion exterior, not interior filming sites, and does not provide a complete interior-location itinerary.
Destination Salem’s location guide asks visitors to confirm current hours and access with individual businesses, especially for seasonal or historic sites.
