Westworld was removed from HBO Max and moved into Warner Bros. Discovery’s free, ad-supported distribution strategy. The completed four-season series was announced for Tubi and The Roku Channel, but current availability depends on territory and changing licensing rights.
Westworld was removed from HBO Max, but Warner Bros. Discovery did not simply abandon the series. The completed show was licensed to free, ad-supported streaming services, including Tubi and The Roku Channel. The documented arrangement covered all four seasons—36 episodes in total—rather than a new season or revival.
Because streaming rights and catalog listings change, viewers in the U.S. should check both services before watching. The original licensing announcements confirm where Westworld was distributed, but they do not guarantee that every season remains available indefinitely or that the same lineup exists in every country.

Tubi’s Westworld deal
On January 31, 2023, Tubi announced a Warner Bros. Discovery content agreement covering 14 branded FAST channels and more than 225 ad-supported video-on-demand titles—more than 2,000 hours of programming. The announcement specifically named all seasons of Westworld as part of the WB TV Watchlist offering, with content rolling out from February 1 and throughout that month.

Tubi is a free service supported by advertising. Depending on the device and location, viewers may be able to use it through a web browser, mobile device, smart television, game console, Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, or Amazon Fire TV. A paid streaming subscription is not the requirement here, but internet access and a compatible device are.
If your television does not already support Tubi or The Roku Channel, a Roku streaming device can add those apps to an older TV. It is optional: a purchase is unnecessary if your smart TV, phone, console, or existing streaming box already supports the services, and no Roku model guarantees that Westworld will remain in the catalog.
The Roku Channel’s Westworld offering
TVLine reported that Tubi and Roku had co-exclusive arrangements involving the former HBO Max titles, including all seasons of Westworld. The Roku Channel subsequently introduced Warner Bros. Discovery-branded free ad-supported channels. In April 2023, TechCrunch reported that the rollout included WB TV Watchlist, the channel associated with Westworld, The Nevers, and Raised by Wolves.
The Roku Channel is not the same thing as a Roku hardware purchase. It is a streaming service that can be available on Roku products and on other supported platforms. Check the service directly rather than assuming that owning a Roku device means the show is currently available.

What “free” means in this case
In this story, “free” means free ad-supported streaming television, commonly abbreviated as FAST, or ad-supported video on demand, known as AVOD. You do not pay a monthly subscription fee for the relevant programming, but you should expect advertising during playback.

- Free does not mean ad-free. Commercial breaks support the service and the licensing arrangement.
- Internet access is still required. The services stream the episodes rather than providing a free physical or offline copy.
- An account may be requested. Requirements vary by service, device, and location.
- Availability can be regional. A U.S. listing does not establish availability in the U.K., Canada, Australia, or elsewhere.
- Rights can expire or move. A title page or launch announcement is not a permanent availability guarantee.
Why did Westworld leave HBO Max?
Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed in December 2022 that Westworld and several other HBO Max originals would be removed from the service as the company pursued third-party licensing opportunities. The affected group also included titles such as The Nevers, Raised by Wolves, FBOY Island, Legendary, Finding Magic Mike, Head of the Class, and The Time Traveler’s Wife, among others.
The commercial strategy was a shift in distribution. Instead of keeping every title inside a paid Warner Bros. Discovery streaming catalog, the company could license selected programs to external FAST platforms. Those services can reach viewers who do not subscribe to HBO Max or its successor service while generating revenue through advertising.
That change also explains why a show associated with a premium subscription platform could appear on a free service. “Free” describes the viewer’s access model on Tubi or Roku; it does not mean Warner Bros. Discovery gave up all commercial rights to the series.
Was Westworld renewed?
No. Westworld was canceled after four seasons. Its move to free ad-supported services concerns the distribution of the completed library, not a renewal, continuation, or fifth-season order.

The series ran for four seasons and concluded with the existing episodes. A new FAST listing should not be interpreted as evidence that HBO, Warner Bros. Discovery, Tubi, or Roku is producing more of the show.
Could Westworld appear on other free services?
Warner Bros. Discovery’s broader FAST channel portfolio has also been distributed through outlets such as MyFree DIRECTV, Tablo, AMG’s Local Media Now, Tubi, The Roku Channel, and Plex, according to TV Tech. That establishes wider distribution for WBD’s FAST channels, but it does not prove that every service currently carries every season or episode of Westworld.
For that reason, Tubi and The Roku Channel remain the principal documented free destinations for this series. Other outlets should be treated as possibilities only after a current, title-level listing confirms Westworld in the relevant country.

- Set the service and device location to the country where you will watch—preferably the U.S. if that is your territory.
- Search for Westworld in Tubi’s current catalog.
- Open the title page and check whether all four seasons, or the specific season you want, are listed.
- Repeat the search in The Roku Channel and check both the on-demand listing and the WB TV Watchlist channel.
- Confirm that the service works on your television, browser, phone, console, or streaming box.
- If neither service lists the show, do not assume that an old announcement is still active. Rights may have changed, or the title may be unavailable in your territory.
What happened to the other removed HBO Max shows?
Westworld was one of the most recognizable titles in the group of HBO Max originals removed in late 2022, but it was not the only one affected. Warner Bros. Discovery also explored third-party distribution for shows including The Nevers, Raised by Wolves, FBOY Island, Legendary, Finding Magic Mike, Head of the Class, and The Time Traveler’s Wife.

The exact destination differed by title and could change over time. A service carrying one former HBO Max program should not automatically be assumed to carry all of them. Search each title separately and verify the country-specific listing.

A Roku device is optional. It may add Tubi and The Roku Channel to an older television, but compatible smart TVs, phones, game consoles, browsers, and other streaming devices may already support the services.

Some Warner Bros. Discovery FAST channels have also been distributed through outlets such as Plex, Tablo, MyFree DIRECTV, and AMG’s Local Media Now. However, that broader distribution does not prove that every outlet currently carries every Westworld episode, so verify the title directly.
