How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Jim Carrey’s live-action adaptation is not currently included with a U.S. subscription streaming service. The film is available as a digital rental for $3.99 or as a digital purchase for roughly $7.99 to $14.99, depending on the retailer and format.
Current listings include Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home. There is no free streaming option listed at present. The full title has no exclamation mark in most listings, which helps distinguish it from the 1966 special.
The Grinch (2018)

For a three-film marathon, the simplest setup is:
- Use Peacock Premium or Premium Plus for the 1966 special.
- Rent the 2000 film digitally for $3.99.
- Rent the 2018 film digitally for $3.99.
That means the minimum listed cost is approximately $18.97 with one month of Peacock Premium, plus any applicable taxes: $10.99 for Peacock and $7.98 for the two rentals. Peacock Premium Plus raises the subscription portion to $16.99, making the comparable total approximately $24.97.
If you expect to watch the films repeatedly, buying the two digital features may be more practical. Purchase prices range from about $7.99 to $14.99 per title, but the exact cost depends on the store, resolution, and whether a bundle or promotion is available.

Search by title and year
The three main Grinch adaptations have very similar names:
- 1966: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! — animated TV special, narrated and voiced by Boris Karloff.
- 2000: How the Grinch Stole Christmas — live-action film starring Jim Carrey.
- 2018: The Grinch — animated film starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
When using a streaming app or digital store, include the year in your search. This is the safest way to avoid renting the wrong adaptation, particularly when searching for the 2000 film or the 2018 movie.
Why older Peacock guides may be misleading
Peacock published holiday guides in late 2025 stating that all three major Grinch adaptations were available on the service. Current U.S. listings checked in August 2026 no longer show the 2000 or 2018 films as part of a Peacock subscription. Only the 1966 special is currently listed as included.
That difference reflects the seasonal nature of streaming rights. An older Peacock article may still appear in search results, but it should not be treated as a current guide to the 2026 holiday lineup.

Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Musical (2020) is a filmed stage production rather than one of the three screen adaptations usually meant by “the Grinch movies.” It is not currently available to stream in the United States. Its last listed U.S. availability was Peacock Premium from December 2020 through January 2021.
If you are assembling a list of the major Grinch films, leave the musical off unless you specifically want to include the stage adaptation.

Peacock currently covers only the 1966 animated special. To watch all three main Grinch adaptations in the U.S., plan on one month of Peacock plus separate digital rentals or purchases of the 2000 and 2018 films. Search each title with its release year, and recheck availability close to the holidays because streaming rights often move seasonally.
